Big part of the local ire at Cornell is their caving to Trump and signing a deal with the DOJ, expelling the leaders of the Gaza encampment, president hits students with his car (!), but cannot manage to prosecute SA to save their lives. The fury has been building for a minute.

The Cornell protests are also really impressive bc they’re risky; Cornell cracked down HARD on the right to protest after the anti-genocide protests in 2024. All sorts of new restrictions, and more mandatory suspensions and expulsions for violations, overseen by admin and not student leaders.

I’m hearing about student protests in France and at Cornell and thinking a lot about how campuses are often hotspots for organization precisely because they are designed to be walkable and contain basic access to material needs like housing and food.

When I was a teenager, I spent 2 years in a traveling teen producing of Godspell. I love it so much, and one of the things I love most is how the material transforms everyone who performs it (sort of like a liturgy…) I’m so psyched for this documentary.

I’m noticing this persisting theme, where it is considered impolite and partisan to simply describe the facts of what someone has done, if what has been done is so far outside the bounds of what would otherwise be acceptable. It’s a strange sort of self-policing.
