The scene from The Brave Little Toaster where the air conditioner gets so angry at the heroes that he explodes and dies afterward. It still freaks us out a bit!

Body Alchemy (oc.) [CW for body horror and death]

A digital illustration done in a painterly fashion of the artist's characters. They are the same character but in different forms. The large monster form is a pale creature with a masculine, muscular body with somewhat translucent skin, showing veins. He has a crown like protrusion from his monster head, five black lightless eyes, a maw of exposed layered teeth, and a star-mole like nose. He has gills on his thick, long neck, and a vivisection scar running down his neck and across his chest from shoulder to shoulder. His torso is open around the rib cage, full of teeth, with gut-like tendrils emerging and combining into the body he is holding. The cadaver is his host, who is of a similar build, but human. His skin is yellowy-grey and lifeless, and he is slumped with his chest cut open in a vivisection, with his torso meat exposed, and tendrils combining with the monster's in his cavity. He has pale blonde-white hair, and dead eyes, and a calm look. A blanket clings loosely to his waist, and black smoke billows around them. The colors of the piece are pale beiges and dark murky greens, with a splash of visceral red.

CSP being pressed to take even just /kissing/ off their asset store and FA being told that plus sized characters are considered adult should be a giant waving red flag to folks. Sex workers have /always/ been right to say these policies never stop with 1 type of content. They always wanna ban more.

When our rape happened we had to deal with the deluge of excuses for the man's behavior. "He was drunk." "He was young and stupid." "It wasn't a big deal." "There was no penetration so it wasn't real rape." Nobody cared to check on us, the victim, at all.

In regard to FurAffinity being at risk due to censorship: Furries are now political targets. We are getting namedropped at high levels of government. They know that we are a large, influential, largely queer, community. Fighting for the spaces owned by our community is incredibly important

We know we've been pretty quiet art-wise lately and it's because this summer has been -brutal- on us. Relationships exploding in our face, nonstop work stress, extreme heat, and debit card fraud to top it all off. Things are getting better now that it's autumn, but we're still tired! Very tired!

DRAGON ABOARD (2013) Acrylic - 18” x 24” Anne McCaffrey often reminded readers that her Pern novels were science fiction. This scene from ALL THE WEYRS OF PERN did exactly that and was originally chosen for the cover. 1/3 #art #booksky 🪐📚

In the cargo hold of a spaceship, a dragon floats with female rider saddled high on its shoulders. Gripping reins, she cranes her neck back to glance at the viewer. Disorienting, the perspective into the cargo hold is slightly angled with the lines of interior structure not quite lining up with the wide octagonal bulkhead leading into it. There is no true horizon to orient on which prompts a sense of weightlessness and implies slow rotation. The hold itself is cropped with the right of it falling off-panel. Just past the dragon, a large porthole provides a view planet-side with sun partially obscured behind a bright arc. A red dot burns menacingly nearby. In the lower left, an access panel glows with dots of red, yellow, and green. The display screen just above is lit with a picture of the author. Her hair is white and her smile is warm.

Before I started work on the preliminary concepts, I had a dream about this scene. It resembled what you see here except that there were no trees. Anne liked the idea and gave her okay.

Preliminary concept for WEYRWORLD featuring a white dragon perching on a rocky peak rising above the cloud. The tree atop the spire, half covered by its wing, is a wild concentration of outward bristling brush.

Figure detail from WEYRWORLD featuring a white dragon with wings spread wide, turning back its head toward the audience as it perches on a rock backed by clouds. Its eyes have a blue-purple metallic sheen. A rider sits on a padded saddle mounted behind its neck. Several tall canisters are buckled there. An orange belted harness crosses his back in an X, and his hood is drawn back to expose Jax’s face to the light.

Background detail from WEYRWORLD featuring dragons perched on rocky peaks for a conference in the clouds. One rider stands atop the spire with an arm on one of the unusual alien trees shaped like a green brain. Others sit mounted on their dragons.

WEYRWORLD (1990)
Acrylic on Watercolor Board - 27" x 36" My schedule was booked up many months in advance, so Del Rey Books commissioned me to do this cover before the book was even written. #art #booksky 🪐📚

With wings spread wide, a white dragon perches on a rocky spire that rises out of cloud cover. Its legs are set unevenly as it gains a hold. Viewed from behind, a rider is saddle-mounted with legs straddling its neck. A handful of other dragons and riders are gathered on similar peaks for a conference in the clouds. The valley wall as seen only in the distance meanders across the horizon. Two large crescent moons hang in a hazy blue sky.
