I appreciate that Dolly Parton refused to participate in "dress respectability" and, by her own account, modeled her aesthetic after a town "tramp," who she thought was beautiful. She separated aesthetics from character and understood "classiness" to be about how you treat people, not how you dress.

I know that I sound like a broken record but I think once this society was ok with accepting mass covid deaths just to be able to eat at Applebees then all bets were off.

If you want to fight fascism, wear a mask. If you want to protect your community, wear a mask. If you care about your long term health, wear a mask. A well fitted N95 can protect against Covid, flu, RSV & more. It’s much easier to resist when you’re healthy!

This regime really hates disabled people. Aliya Rahman was violently dragged from her car by ICE on her way to a doctor’s appointment. She told them she was disabled, they didn’t care. She’s been arrested again for standing up at the State of the Union.

Lucinda is a disability advocate and community leader. She’s been a fierce voice for disabled rights. She was living independently with the support of home nurses until she ended up in hospital. They discharged her to a nursing home against her will. This is exactly what she advocated against!

This is a direct response to the pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia. Lawmakers want to curtail our civil rights to make it easier to identify people who are protesting. Collateral damage will be disabled people harassed for masking. PLEASE CALL HOCHUL AND SAY NO TO MASK BANS

CHOICE is key to becoming a reader. When kids are given a wide range of books to choose from, and are allowed to choose freely - THEY READ! I don’t believe in “reluctant readers” - just readers who haven’t yet found the right books for them. So it’s our job to help them find those books! #literacy

Here's your daily reminder that bookstores keep the love of reading alive — but they also keep neighborhoods beautiful. They are places to gather, to celebrate stories, to find community. Please do your holiday shopping at your local independent bookstore, if you are lucky enough to still have one.
