Like what do you mean you don't care why an expert in their field does things one way or the other — it should be fascinating, it should impart a sense of wonder, it should make you want to listen. We should value each others expertise! If we don't, the slop is upon us.

I recently came across someone giving the example of hiring a plumber to fix your sink and not caring about the minutiae of how they decide to fix it so long as the sink works. But that itself betrays a lack of curiosity that I think leads to the Dunning-Kruegering.
