GOOD NEWS! Phase I clinical trial results show a first-of-its-kind personalized vaccine designed to treat glioblastoma, a deadly and aggressive form of brain cancer, is safe AND elicits robust and broad immune responses that appears to INCREASE recurrence-free survival in patients after surgery.

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

We live in an exciting time. We can, now more than ever, build the future we want. Now is the time for optimism and big dreams. I believe we can build a culture where no one gets left behind. There is darkness, but there is also so much love.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have discovered a new antibiotic, known as manikomycin, that may be a bulwark in the fight against drug-resistant superbugs. By attacking the ribosome in a never-before-seen way, manikomycin can evade the existing mechanisms pathogens have developed to resist antibiotics.

Reminds me of NUMA CPU boards, or the small enclaves on chips that run a different OS in parallel to the main CPU, with limited visibility between the two. Seems that separating the consistent/dedicated/mission-critical/autonomic stuff from consciousness is useful? med.stanford.edu/news/all-new...

A decent society makes space for everyone who wants to participate, regardless of which levels of abstraction speak to us. Charcoal on rock, making paints, acrylic, digital drawing, genning, and beyond: Society is richer when more people find expressive fulfillment. Let’s build a decent society.

AI art is the closest thing I've seen to the early 2000s Web in a long time. Just a profusion of people freely sharing things they're interested in without expectation of commercialization or careers. Browsing finetunes is reminiscent of meandering through Yahoo or dmoz directories back in the day.
