remmah @remmah.net · 11/10/2026I suspect both approaches can lead to a reliable binary, but perhaps the 'test what you fly' approach is more amenable to AI. Reminds me of how some cephalopods rely more on flexible 'in-flight' RNA editing than the generational evolution of genetic mutations: www.sciencenews.org/article/octo...sciencenews.orgOctopuses and squid are masters of RNA editing while leaving DNA intactModifications to RNA could explain the intelligence and flexibility of shell-less cephalopods. 000
remmah @remmah.net · 10/10/2026So, huge gratitude to everyone involved in making #goatmire possible — it's not just inspiring, it's galvanizing, it's a call to action for all who make technology, for all who care about the technology they make, for all who care about the roles those technologies play in our our world. 110
remmah @remmah.net · 10/10/2026We tried to do this (to a much, much more modest extent) with Southern Fried F# before the pandemic, to make a tech event that was more... approachable, welcoming, humanistic. Seeing even just glimpses of #goatmire from afar gets the gears turning about possibilities specific to our region. 110
remmah @remmah.net · 10/10/2026#goatmire as an event is incredibly unique, but as a *idea* it shouldn't be unique. The tech world should have hundreds, thousands of region- and community-specific goatmires all over the world. 110
remmah @remmah.net · 10/10/2026The lack of a hallway track says something about #goatmire — it's an inversion of most any other tech event. It's a wakeup call that we can be more community than industry. 110
remmah @remmah.net · 10/10/2026When trans people are seen, there is a 'you can just do that?' effect. People see trans folks and suddenly realize 'woah, I can just be myself?' #Goatmire is kinda like that for communities. 'Woah, we can just put on a tech event that showcases a community and a fuller picture of its participants?' 110
