frankly i'm anti-shading at all when it comes to cartoony styles. if it's not telling you anything about the lighting, you're just adding minutes to your work time for no reason. what does shading add to the expression of this panel? nothing at all. i would argue it actually makes it stiffer.

Listen I love trans!hc fics. I really do. It makes me happy to read them. But there's something to be said about an ftm character being constantly described as "pretty" or "cute" or "soft" etc- its- hmm. I don't know. Like it's obviously fine but it feels a little... dismissive...?
