Morning #RecoveryPosse this will be my 4th sober Christmas The 1st one, my addiction made me feel like it was going to be awful, I’d miss out, friends would laugh at me for not drinking or using & more Guess what? None of that happened, I enjoyed myself & now Christmas is fun!

It’s very easy to put pressure on yourself to make the ‘perfect’ Christmas by comparing your plans to others. My advice is just do the things you enjoy, with your family & friends & take no notice of what everyone else is up to. Make memories not instagram likes.

The one piece of advice I can give over the festive period to anyone trying to beat an addiction is: Put your recovery first. There will be more Christmases this way. If you don’t, there may not. Treat #recovery like a matter of life & death. Because it is. #RecoveryPosse

1,403 days ago I was lucky enough to be able to ask for help to get sober. I took cocaine every day & abused alcohol. I was very unwell & couldn’t stop. The book Rational Recovery by Jack Trimpey & the support of many in #recoveryposse helped me get here. Please believe you can beat addiction

Evening #recoveryposse I used #AVRT Addictive Voice Recognition Technique to beat a Cocaine & Alcohol addiction. My last line & drink were over 3 years and 9 months ago. I used Twitter to speak to other recovering addicts & made some great friendships while learning a lot. Hopefully same on here!
