a lot of writers and podcasters need to learn that they are not entitled to freely adapt any book they take a liking to. do you want to tell an existing story in a new medium? cool. talk to the author. collaborate with them if they want. license it if they're interested. or start from scratch.

If you think a quote from a suffragist in 1889 is too “woke feminist ideology” or that Black people as soldiers or immigrants as patriots are such offensive ideas they must be erased from the public memory, your problem isn’t “woke”- it’s just other people existing in history & having rights 🗃️

On this day in 1851, Sojourner Truth, a suffragist and abolitionist from New York, spoke at the Ohio Woman’s Rights Convention in Akron. She probably never used the refrain “Ain’t I a Woman,” but she did mock white men who opposed women’s rights. #WeTheMen blogs.loc.gov/headlinesand...

Yes, I love that the musical gave more depth to Carrie Chapman Catt than how she is usually portrayed in comparison to Paul.

But it would take an extremely arduous and contentious almost three-year drafting process before they would conclude that women needed complete constitutional sexual equality to fully emancipate women from the subservient status that they had historically occupied in the U.S. legal tradition.4 #HATM
