Style can absolutely be part of a copyright claim, but that’s not my point. My point is that we should judge AI output‘s legality based on the same standards applied to human-created art. I consider the ethical/moral questions about how AI art impacts human flourishing separately from the legal q’s.

No, it is not ethical to forbid him from making art. However, it would be ethical to forbid him from stealing or copying existing art in the way we already forbid humans from doing that. The question then becomes about what IP law should be, but I don’t think 3PO’s specialness actually impacts that.

I have seen it. Her critiques are interesting, but don’t really hold up from a film criticism perspective because the themes she seemed to want were either outside the scope of what the movie could do or already communicated via cinematic language.

It’s an interesting review, even if I don’t particularly agree with her antipathy towards the writing or her perception of contradictions. Her expertise with Homer should not be confused for expertise with film criticism.
