Yeah, maybe bonking him over the head with the metal part? I was looking at the concept art to see if I could find any hints of what it might have been, but no luck. If anything some of these unused battle concepts are more on the comical end, lol

Funnily enough I think the GBA version is honestly a bit more brutal just because of the sound effects it uses for the cannonballs. But still I feel people overlook how kind of sadistic K. Rool was in DKC2, like it’s not enough he was using DK as a punching bag but he’ll glad demonstrate it-

So in what diabolical fashion did K. Rool originally torture Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong Country 2? It’s time to release the Sutherland Cut (so we might see Donkey Kong cut).

At this point, though, if someone contends they've never even heard of “It’s Mr Pants” or Mr. Pants, it may say more about the gamer than the game. Perhaps there is a deeper reason why people say they haven't heard about the game and feel the need to make it known: cultural cachet.

Thanks so much for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed this fanart. 😄 P.S. The gun user next to the pony was originally intended to be a mafia or gangster, but it can be James Bond if you want it to be. And yes, that's Ryu's and Little Mac's fists below, and Donkey Kong throwing a barrel FYI.

Think long and hard if you really don’t want to do that 13th Emerald Rush event, Void. Cranky can always make this hole go deeper. #DonkeyKongBananza

Felt like drawing some more Transfatylvania fanart. This time, Grunt is the unkillable force of darkness. #myart @realgeneralgrunt.bsky.social

Note: I have nothing against any of these characters, even though I'm not a Brony (MLP is not my thing). This artwork is satire and not to be taken seriously. The bubble-like shield is inspired by those in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. I hope you enjoy this artwork.

Oh no. Did they dump pumpkin spice mix into the Donkey Kong Island tide again?

A new playlist on Nintendo Music, added on Sep 23, 2026, called “Autumn” and featuring a picture of DK Island at sunset from Donkey Kong Bananza.

“We hope you enjoy this playlist, which captures the spirit of autumn.”

I know what I’m about. #My9Games is easy. It’s the tenth that’s brutal, as Banjo-Tooie and Star Fox Adventures have been knifing one another for the spot over the last few years.

My 9 Games:

1. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest
2. Donkey Kong Bananza
3. Sea of Thieves
4. Banjo-Kazooie
5. Grabbed by the Ghoulies
6. Diddy Kong Racing
7. Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!
8. Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
9. Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

We're approaching Donkey Kong Land 2's 30th anniversary! While it being a handheld retread of Donkey Kong Country 2 WAS disappointing in isolation, it was still an exciting stepping stone to Country 3. Two Donkey Kong games in two months! Here's the announcement from Nintendo Power Vol. 85.

The blurb announcing Donkey Kong Land 2 in the June 1996 issue of Nintendo Power. Still titled "Donkey Kong Land 2: Diddy's Kong Quest," the half-page features Super Game Boy-enhanced screenshots of Diddy next to a Squawks Barrel and Zinger, Dixie Kong riding a roller coaster behind a Klank, Squitter in an ice cavern underneath a Zinger, and Diddy on the deck of a pirate ship near a Neek. In the upper right corner is a render of a Krook from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

"Diddy and Dixie retrace their steps, spins and twirls from last year's Super NES hit, DKC 2, in this Super Game Boy adaptation from Nintendo and Rare. The quality of the graphics speak for themselves in the screen shots shown here. What you can't see is the incredible animation that gives the characters a 3-D feel even on Game Boy. The story is the same as DKC 2. Diddy and Dixie are out to rescue Donkey Kong. Along the way they meet friendly animals including a pogo snake, a speedy spider and a fiery seal. Early indications are that DKL 2 is faithful translation of DKC 2, so don't expect new stages. Nintendo will release DKL 2 this fall."

I had been playing video games for seven years prior to it, but Donkey Kong Country was the first time a game felt like it had been made with all of my idiosyncratic tendencies in mind. It wasn’t just fun; it presented a world I wanted to live in populated by characters I wanted to hang out with.

have you heard this fact about Donkey Kong Bananza?

There's a little-known piece of hidden dialogue in Donkey Kong Bananza. If you yell "Oh, Banana!" alongside the game 100 times, a voice from your door will say "I'm filing another noise complaint."

I'm so bored and cynical and burnt out on social media that I keep telling myself it's not worth logging in at all, and even seeing random unexpected fan art of K. Rool doesn't do it for me anymore. But that's a lie. It DOES do it for me. It always will.
