In the late 90s I was already being ostricized in high school for being an outspoken atheist in small city TN. I should have doubled down by being an outspoken socialist too. But even that version of me would be shocked at my current anti-capitalist views

Fair enough! I have no patience for folks thinking one but not the other. Same with folks who estimate a significant chance of AI destroying the world, but don't put in guardrails. Their risk analysis is terrible, and they could just stop. (The Venn Diagram is just a circle)

If they really believed that, they would need to stop trying to monetize the labor of LLM agents, as it clearly would clearly be slavery.

BRETT KAVANAUGH: "Can you explain exactly how the consent would work?" Just saying... if *I* were Brett Kavanaugh, *I* WOULDN'T ASK A QUESTION SHOWING THAT I WAS CONFUSED HOW CONSENT WORKS! But maybe that's just me.

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

That isn't to say there haven't been plenty of peer-power wars. Iraq-Iran comes to mind immediately. But strategic use of air power is difficult without air superiority if not supremacy and so isn't often successfully employed in peer-power conflicts

The Taming of Sméagol, by Donato Giancola, 2010
A scene from The Two Towers. Sam is on his belly with naked twink Sméagol straddling his hips. Frodo pulls his head back by the hair erotically and leans in to his ear while brandishing Sting. It is *extremely* gay.

On this day in 1994, the Clinton administration's heathcare reform plan was declared "dead" by Congress. Over 30 years later, the US is still the only industrialized country without universal healthcare. This should be a national outrage.

Pretty sure that essential value and humanity of trans people, and supporting their rights as our own isn't a talking point for the GOP. So exactly what talking point did you think I meant?

I think there is a case to be made (not agreed upon, mind) that the conflict with Iran has shown that the US is no longer a superpower. I think it is probably true in that one of its great strengths until recently was the ability to persuade other nations to join it but no longer

I'm going to say the recent 3:40 Musk documentary. Not that it would actually be funny, more likely excruciating, but that a documentary needs explaining

Am I thrilled about this? No. With that said, the current B&N brain trust has been giving individual stores more autonomy to serve their specific communities, not just take dictates from corporate. Which means, hopefully, some of the Joseph-Beth vibe will still survive. www.wkyt.com/2026/09/15/b...

Unironically one of the funniest jokes in Star Wars history is literally that bit from Empire where an asteroid smacks into the bridge of a Star Destroyer and just flat-out kills a guy in the middle of a call with Vader, and everyone just ignores him

I see lots of complaints about the art style, and not nearly enough about it being a remake instead of a new game. If it were this same art but in a new game, no one would be complaining. LoZ has always played around with different art styles through the years
