I haven’t touched the account in years and the writing is certainly not perfect - but if even just a few people are still relating to my stories, even years after activity, hell yeah 🤘

2025 has been messy, but beautiful. Coming up on the halfway marker, I can confidently say it’s been a year of tremendous growth. I’ve been actively working through my trauma and character defects instead of running, denying, or digging my heels out of pride, denial, or fear like I did for so long.

Tried to go for an afternoon swim for some exercise at the hotel. Couldn’t enjoy five minutes alone before two men, not even in swimsuits, begin soliciting the area with their phones out. I’m a woman, alone, trying to swim in peace. They weren’t subtle. One was at the foot of the pool, phone on me.

Arrived in Canberra, which is v different from Melbourne. First impressions aren’t great, but not for reasons you’d think. I love smaller cities & when I was warned that Canberra is “boring” I took it with a grain of salt (because the same is said about my home, Madison) I have an open mind & heart

I learned an interesting tidbit - Madison Wisconsin & Melbourne AU were developed into “cities” roughly at the same time, with Madison being declared a “village” in 1846 and was then incorporated into a “city” in 1856. Melbourne became a “town” in 1842 and was declared a “city” by the Queen in 1847.

Pillsbury Toaster Strudels gotta be one of the worst forms of shrinkflation for me. Once a rare, semi annual delicacy to me growing up in poverty, they were so satisfying & magical They’re thin, flimsy, & tiny now. Barely any filling OR pastry. I can afford them now, but don’t bother. Greed, man.

Text: After candid photos of Sydney Sweeney in a bikini leaked online, thousands of men on X have been having a full on mental breakdown because she doesn't look exactly the same as when she's glammed up for an award show or airbrushed in a magazine. They've been tearing her apart for her body, her face, and basically calling her an ugly hag and a catfish.

The entire "controversy" reminds me of the famous quote from philosopher Marilyn Frye, who wrote in her book, The Politics of Reality:
Essays in Feminist Theory, "To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. Recovery for me, in the beginning, was really difficult. Having to turn away from friends who would constantly promote/encourage drinking was HARD - because they’re good people that I love. A year & some change into my journey - I have some of realest, most beautiful friendships I’ve ever enjoyed
