Look, this is bad. Yes. But the Trump admin sent six (6) people to Maricopa and Pima. Where, by my count, there are 404 polling places, spread across 18,000 square miles (each county is ~9k sq mi). What they want is the FEAR to discourage the voting they can't actually prevent.

It’s very telling that they deliberately (or unintentionally, if I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt) left out Kaptur’s comments referring to “ideology…” like that’s point blank just deliberately accepting the GOP’s framing of the issue, I feel like that’s a MUCH MORE valid criticism of her

Agreed, I will admit in some circumstances, such as Turek, Acton, and Kaptur, abstaining is a valid position, Talarico may have middled to an extent, But Paxton has essentially made erasing and repressing trans people his entire political agenda, he’s so much worse, Talarico is still miles better

James Talarico has been portrayed as part of a Democratic backslide on trans rights. But his position on trans athletes is the same as the Biden administration's, and his position on trans surgeries is the same as Andy Beshear: www.vox.com/politics/504...

Want to point out, this is not exactly true, he supports a ban on *surgery* which… isn’t great, but he doesn’t support a nationwide care ban, while the position isn’t ideal, he still supports best practice care for youth, his opponent however, DOES, and more, JT does not oppose access to medication

A much better—and smarter—answer from Talarico than before, and I'm especially happy to see him stand by his vote against Texas' trans sports ban. Nice to see a swing-state Democrat talking about trans kids like they're actual human beings instead of just calling trans girls 'boys.'

“We can want Democrats to win and secure a Democratic majority while also recognizing that the queer community’s organized political power does not have to fund the first Democrats willing to abandon us,” said Tyler Hack, executive director of the Christopher Street Project, which also wields a PAC meant to fund campaign efforts to elect and retain unapologetically trans-allied politicians.

“It’s clear that the trans community needs independent political power that works to build a Democratic majority while ensuring our resources go to those who stand with us when it matters,” she said.

True, this goes back to the gender/sex conversation, which in and of itself, kinda sucks cause it also erases intersex people, but like if there’s hypothetically “two biological sexes,” there infinite genders, which again is skewed because of the erasure, but yes, he did not say “2 biological sexes”

I guess I would just say this, go with your gut, try not to make assumptions, go off of what you know, do you live in Texas? If not that’s ok, I’m up north now, but I lived in TN my entire life, so I know what it’s like to have centrist dems, temperament and substance can often go a long way
010
RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
I get fearing that dems could swing right, but not every politician is Fetterman, Talarico has said more than enough over the stretch, to make me think he cares, it’s either him or Paxton atp, 1 of them will win, Talarico seems the better option, & if he does swing, the primaries always come later
010
RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
whereas you would be stuck with the Republican representatives/senators… my point is ultimately this, the rhetoric is bad, policy is bad too, but when 1 party, that is not the dems, is pushing 99% of that policy, in my eyes, the choice seems very easy… the dems are just better for trans people/kids
010
RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
4. House and Senate majorities often come down to a few seats, and when our very voting rights are at stake, that’s a HUGE gamble to take, considering a lot of legislation can pass with maybe a couple votes, 5. If bad dems do try to flip the party stance, you can always primary them later…
110
RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
3. It DOES apply slippery slope fallacy, insinuating that 26 individuals politicians could or will flip the entire party stance on this issue, when the party has 20+ governors, hundreds of representatives, double digit number of senators, and 66.2 million members, just because of labour in the UK
110
RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
1. No, some things that some dems have said is not *good,* however, in contrast to the Republicans, they’re still way better for trans people/kids, 2. It makes assumptions that we live in *normal,* democratic times, which is very debatable at this current moment, given the state voting rights are in

RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Yeah I do agree that it’s bad that he said that, I’m just more so quite concerned about his opponent’s record, well before I knew of Talarico, Paxton forced trans kids to be separated from their parents, he’s also put many trans people on a list, Talarico is definitely better for trans people/kids
150
RawrStarr @rawrstarr.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Ok, I will regret this, cause I really want to be done with the discourse, but 1. Can you cite where Talarico called trans women biological men? 2. He said he was opposed to surgery, not care as a whole, which I agree is not a *great* position, but Paxton doesn’t want trans kids to exist at all
