I've never heard it called a collar mic. But it got me curious about the meaning of terms I had heard, so I looked up lavalier, and lapel, which both refer to the collar. Collar microphone strikes me kind of raw, and practical. It would've been a big hit with the ink horn folks. @jesszafarris.com
