Excited to try flocking on silicone. Certain it won’t hold up but I *really * wanna give it a shot. Id love to do a combo of flocking and hair punching on this silicone cast of my cat. Need to buy a flocking gun, then I can run some tests. Worst case i am stuck hand punching every strand.

Got a perfect cast then suddenly…it started to shrivel up. Ugh! Zero clue why it does this. Work shop is 76 AND i hit the mold with a heat gun. I know its not temp involved. Literally watching it in real time shrivel up.

HERE we go! Got a successful cast. Took some problem solving but managed to get exactly what I wanted. Now to cast the rest! Ill be painting this and painstakingly hand punching the fur…or flocking. I need to run some tests.

I love working with silicone but I curse silicone foam. Ive tried to use it a dozen times and all i end up with is sponges to paint silicone with as it never works out. Maybe i am doing it wrong but all ive learned is to avoid it at all costs

Proof of concept here- I cast this with the old dragon skin silicone. All things considering it did alright! Though it set up so fast it left some voids, but shows exactly what I need to do for the next one.

Used that ancient dragon skin silicone, was thick like peanut butter. Gave it a good mix and poured it into a mold. Was quick to thicken up, but took ages to cure. I needed to apply heat. So probably safe to assume it’s still good, but barely haha.

Did we ever discover an alternative to silpoxy? Or are we still stuck having to use that on silicone? I know the GE caulking used to work but, i know the formula changed so, haven’t bothered. Curious if people know, or am I doomed to buy $40 tubes of glue ; ;

Laying in bed realizing I might need to melt down old sculpting projects if I wanna sculpt Rakule’s upper torso. That or I buy more clay… Part of me just wants to melt them down as I don’t think i’ll have the space for the molds they’ll require anyway. But I also think about the time vested…

Using the original refs I used for my old Rakule mask, for the new one. Kinda fun to go down memory lane. The second one i used my self a lot and I wasn’t entirely pleased. So thought I should go back to my ROOTS. Which is frankly exciting, as I can already see how much my art has grown.
