The princess took an earring off and held it out. The raven looked at it. "Whatever for?" "You are wise and clever. Many princesses have dragons, but none has a raven friend." The raven picked up the earring. "Say no more." "Friends?" she asked when it returned the next day. "Forevermore."

I would not be where I am without having been on the internet in the late '90s in fandom. Every October, I think of all the friends I made through those fandoms, many of whom have drifted either into other fandoms or completely offline, & I just want to say, as I have for many years, THANK YOU.

I have made the trip to T&T Supermarket. On a Saturday. It's surreal to see signage saying, "Spotlight on Filipino and Vietnamese food" like it's special, which - I totally get - is for a Chinese-focused supermarket.

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.

Taylor Farms grows lettuce in Salinas and Yuma. They also buy from other farms and process produce all over, incl Mexico & Europe. They've caused multiple outbreaks and sell under a variety of brands/labels to consumers and restaurants/food service. They're about a third of entire US salad market.

I posted this elsewhere, but: I bought a package mailing from a USPS self-service kiosk, paid, mailed said package, and got an email receipt with tracking links. 2 days later, USPS said: "this label number is fake. We're unable to produce tracking data as a result." At least the pkg arrived?

look, I've seen what life looks like if you're poor and sick and have nowhere else to go but enough money that some agency will still pay for your ass to live and be cared for. That for-profit institutionalization is not what anyone's end of life care should look like.
