Some people might not be aware, but it is entirely possible that without Dolly Parton we wouldn’t have had a COVID vaccine. She partly funded Moderna’s research and gave the largest individual contribution to make it all happen. Just gives you an idea of the kind of person she was.

A thing I don't bring up much but which makes a lot of me make sense is the fact that the Watership Down movie was my FAVOURITE as a child, and then later got ahold of a lot of the Watership Down TV show, a tonally VERY different show that I projected unhinged storylines onto in my imagination.

Sorry I have been absent. Some real FUCKSHIT with my mum happened. It took up all of July. I am not kidding. A lot of good things happened with Corsair in that time, and I would love to be detailed about that--I'll try to find some time to write that up.

rough sketch of a very cartoony raccoon from an exaggerated top-down angle as he reaches up and grabs the viewer on either side of their face. his round glasses emphasize how big his eyes are. he says "HEY! meritocracy is a myth! you were not born to provide labor! ok ilu [heart]"

littlest anarchist says: sometimes shit needs breaking!

rough sketch of a very round and cute cartoon raccoon (my sona) wearing glasses and holding a wrench in one hand. he's making an exaggeratedly cute and happy face and is saying "REMEMBER! destruction, too, is a form of creation. from the rot of the old shall we grow anew!"

Corsair has been doing well at his board+train so far! He's currently being bullied with things like "exercises around a crated dog where he can't interact with the crated dog" and "holding down+stays while a little chihuahua is paraded around in front of him" and this is mixed with actual dog PLAY.

I am not looking forward to needing to be on the road at 9 am tomorrow, for 6 hours in the car with Corsair (who has never been on a drive longer than 2 hours with me.) If anyone has any Cool Tips for this, bearing in mind he will be dog-seatbelted and not crated, now is the time!

update: need to pay rent by the 4th & car payment by the 3rd. the former will likely give me more leeway & less late fees so i'm paying that first. that costs $405. that leaves us at $150/1150 for rent. if i can sell all the comms i have listed on ko-fi, i'll be mostly there. pls pls share!!

Let's take lightning bugs as a example here. "Leaving the leaves" is totally critical. But it's not the *only* action that is meaningful for lightning bug conservation. Keeping your yard dark? Important! Providing habitat so their prey survives? Important! Not spraying pesticides? Very important!

Finally, footage from that new whale graveyard. The fact that fossils and fresh carcasses mix together in this spot is bonkers. But of course it makes sense, because the scavengers that live down there also need a steady supply over millions of years. They can't just suddenly adapt to the deep.

Joe's surgery went very well, he's RECOVERING really well. He's already NOT in pain compared to before--and the pain used to be so bad it woke him up multiple times a night. Now he has no pain and no numbness/tingling! He does have nerve zaps that indicate the nerve is healing, but that's GOOD.
