A huge Slackware-current update just landed: 1927 updates, including 1876 rebuilt packages. The entire distribution was rebuilt with GCC 16.2.0, glibc 2.44 and binutils 2.47. Patrick Volkerding: "Fine, it's 16.0 alpha 1." www.linuxquestions.org/questions/sl... Time to upgrade. #Slackware #Linux

Xorg/XLibre: DontZap disables Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. DontVTSwitch disables Ctrl+Alt+Fn, but removes VT recovery. For most systems, DontZap alone is the better trade-off. More details: raw.githubusercontent.com/r1w1s1/code-... #slackware #x11

Found UW ttyp0, a beautiful bitmap font for X11 and Unix consoles: people.mpi-inf.mpg.de/~uwe/misc/uw... I’m using its dotted-zero variant with cwm, dmenu, xterm, tabbed, and xscreensaver. A UW ttyp0 SlackBuild will be available on SlackBuilds.org next week. #slackware

The UNIX shell is still one of the best IDEs ever created. grep/find/sed/awk/make/ssh/git/nvi often compose better than many modern “integrated” environments. Small programs connected together still scale surprisingly well. repo.or.cz/code-notes.g... #unix #linux #slackware #vi

I just pushed an update to SBo for development/lm-studio-bin, updating it to version 0.4.9.1. It looks like newer versions of LM Studio are being tested against GNOME environments, and they seem to conflict with Plasma 5 shortcuts (possibly due to cmd key bindings). #Slackware 1/2 >>

over at $DAYJOB there was a brief scare about the recent notepad++ bug, with lots of whining about corp IT removing the package from laptops. This of course had me hint at saner alternatives such as vi or emacs and derivatives, but no mention of vi is ever complete without this message from Bob […]
