Regarding #Tapas shuttering: sometimes it's desirable to be part of a creative company because 'being used' looks the same as 'being needed'. They are not the same.

henrietta vs the farmers ex 🐔 #art ✧ #comic ✧ #fieldsofmistria
A digitally drawn comic of a conversation between OP's character, Monroe, and Henrietta the chicken from Fields of Mistria.

Panel 1:
Henrietta sitting between Monroe's legs, looking up at him (off screen).
Monroe: "sorry. some days are harder than others. thank you for always listening, 'etta."
Henrietta: "..."

Panel 2:
A slightly zoomed in shot of Henrietta.
Monroe: "hey uhhh it's okay to tell this kind of stuff to a chicken right"
Henrietta (in a thought bubble): "tell me, frail human, does this man like being able to feel things with his fingers?"

Panel 3:
A fully zoomed in shot of Henrietta's face, underlit ominously with a dark background.
Henrietta (in a thought bubble): "does he enjoy having ears to hear praise with? unpecked eyes to see the world with?"

Panel 4:
Monroe and Henrietta walking side by side.
Monroe: "thanks for not telling hayden about this btw. i'm not ready for that conversation yet. you're a good chicken."
Henrietta (in a thought bubble): yes i am. now give me the pitiful man's coordinates, that i may commit a murder most fowl."

The problem isn't AI is good or AI is bad. The problem is there are several different types of AI out there that don't resemble each other, some do very specific potential good, and others do more catastrophic potential harm, ans we call them the same cause it fits in a headline or tweet.

And to be fair, Artists saying 'uninstall paint.net' aren't actually reading the post that says this is an experimental branch, barely even a beta. Don't think with your knees. Your visceral reactions are absolutely something that should be noted, but, we *gotta* push the discussion beyond sides.

The goal of having so much AI content isn't necessarily to pass itself off as genuine, human work. It's to obfuscate and deflate the veracity of all writing, which benefits maxxers and supplants legitimate writers. Creating doubt and paranoia is also a goal, one verifiers greatly benefit from.

Fundamentally, any readily accessible AI verifier is going to be incentivized to tell you what it thinks you want to hear. Any signifier like sentence structure, cliche or flatness can either be trained out, ingested by a real human (we made the training after all) or up to subjective taste.

Anime dubs have unique traits that make subtitling require more care, not less. They're usually static, isolated lines delivered to adr another language performance. The goal isn't to stare down 3 inches, and it uses weird words. People used to do this better, for free, as a hobby/job training.
Screenshot of ACCA: the setting changed to a new setting, and while the name is listed in japanese Katakana (reading Fāmasu Ward), it's illegible in English. Screenshot of ACCA: captions skimmed from the dialogue name this region as Omosu, which is very different from Fāmasu. Not unalike, but it's the complete wrong name when it has actually been incredibly well established in the actual text, just in visual form in a foreign language. Screenshot of ACCA: showing all 13 districts of this country, one is labeled Fāmasu, or the english word Farmers written in japanese romaji. (Japanese has its own rules for adapting foreign names to its comparatively limited syllables)

Haaaaagh, crunchyroll is apparently using ai-generated closed captions on some older stuff from the dub audio. The pacing is all off, it has mondegreen errors, and sometimes it doesn't even clarify the less clear lines. What a disrespect to human effort. Three names? Really?!

The big reflex I see in people asking if something is AI is 'well I fed this into an ai and it told me it was/n't AI.' Any magic aightball is 1) biased to tell you the response it thinks will get it a treat, and 2) falls into the classic attacker/defender problem, but dumber.

This graphic ends up with a pretty bad rounding error, magnifying the smallest from 60 to 6. Made this graphic in a rush: each line is one person. It shows the proportion of 6 vs 4.5k more accurately and intuitively. It's closer to 'how many people misclick/did not understand the question' levels.
a sloppy, sketchy collection of tally marks that color-code responses to a survey about how important human-made text is to respondents. Out of 4,449 responses reported here, six responses say it was not important, 109 said it was somewhat important, and the rest, at 97.4%, said it was very important.

I find visualizing tallies and groups of tens, hundreds and thousands helps keep a little more context for proportions in surveys. Seriously, if there were *one* single less person who said not important, you could count them on one hand. It is the barest minimum possible needed to count on two hands, and if I said 'you could count it on two hands' you might think I meant 10, and that's almost double the number of people who said that it wasn't important that writing is authored by a human.

And as I colored in this graphic, I got to think about how people could arrive at the conclusions they did- I can see how you could try to argue 'if you're just copypasting something that doesn't matter, maybe it's fine if a bot copypastes it. Or how many people in a group of 4.5k would misread the qusestion, or misclick.

I'm assuming this survey comes from ellipsus users, which already selects for people who do the act of writing, find value in it, and likely find value in reading writing by other people. This is also a survey made of responses, not every person asked responded, and a larger survey doesn't necessarily mean more accurate results, let alone rsults that are honest, persuasive, or worth making decisions on actions over. But, again, I want to point out that by being a little more granular with the data presentation, showing such small numbers and their proportion to larger ones, you get a more accurate intuitive sense of the data in a way an AI can never perceive.

Tableflip MacDeathbathwater @quoththedesk.bsky.social · 29/05/2026
Even that graphic inflates the "not important to be written by humans (assumed pro-AI) stance by 10x. If each block is one percent, then the graph makes it look like 1% is okay with it, instead of a tenth of a percent. Super sloppy, here's what it'd look like a little more accurately.
A 10x10 grid that attempts to visualize a survey asking how important it is that writing is authored by a human. 97 cells and 1/4th of a cell say it is very important, 2.5 say it is somewhat important, and 0.1, one tenth of a percent, say it is not important. That's six people. The image before, where blocks were a solid color, rounded up the implied people who say human-written text isn't important to sixty, which is almost half of the people who said it was somewhat important, which was 109. Just saying, an AI could never have caught how misleading that margin really was, because information has to be qualified and checked to be interpretable as close to the original data as possible from a human perspective. It makes sense to simplify things by rounding down the percent, but in this case it totally inflated how small the minority really is.

How important is it to you that a piece of writing is authored by a human?

97.4% - Very important
2.5% - Somewhat important
