We believe that LGBTQ+ people are already holy. That our lives and experiences reflect the divine in unique and much-needed ways. That our faith makes us queerer and our queerness makes us more faithful. Let's practice together. (Usually Brian posting)

"The Bible says gay sex is OK but doesn't allow for non-monogamy" is a WILD and extremely unserious position to take.

Two things can be true: - I want to believe no one is irredeemable - James Dobson made the world a worse place and we are better off without him May those of us still here work to undo all the harm he wrought upon us.

Anyone who claims the Bible as one of their sacred texts should be abhorred by the US government's treatment of immigrants and doing everything we can to stop it.

Pretty sure that "‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born," means don't them in prison/concentration camps.

July 1995. Bibi, then leader of the opposition, rallies a mock funeral procession as anti-peace, anti-Oslo Peace Process scream, "death to Rabin!" The life-size black coffin with PM Rabin’s name painted in white is visible, the noose is harder to see from here. Rabin was murdered in November.
Bibi and a casket that has Rabin’s name on it. He’s such a piece of shit.

Let history remember that this loathsome monster was inciting Rabin’s murder back in the day for trying to make peace. Nobody can say they didn’t know, didn’t see, couldn’t have imagined. This was as inevitable as all the steps that preceded it when he’s left unchecked. No conscience.

Brian here. Just read an email @shannontlkearns sent where he wrote "I am not afraid of God. I don’t mean that in a flippant way, nor in a “God can’t touch me” kind of way. I mean it in the deepest place of knowing that God is loving " and it pierced me right down to my bones.

And in the times when I DON'T want to wear one or the other, I pay attention to why (TBH it's usually fear or shame, and that's important information)

Brian & Shannon | QueerTheology.com @queertheology.bsky.social · 29/05/2025
I don't wear a jockstrap or tzitzit EVERY day (though I often wish I did), but when I do, now that I've made it an intentional choice and a sacred practice, it feels really special. I feel connected to my community. I remember to honor my sexuality.
110
Brian & Shannon | QueerTheology.com @queertheology.bsky.social · 29/05/2025
So I decided to try it. and since I'm Jewish, I decided to pair it with a tzitzit from The Tzitzit Project, a feminist, all-gender-inclusive to redefine and expand tzitzit for *all* Jews.

Brian & Shannon | QueerTheology.com @queertheology.bsky.social · 29/05/2025
The idea really resonated with folks. One person said he already wore one daily but hadn't considered it holy before. Another decided to try. One woman (who is trans) shared about how wearing "women's" underwear was the first transition step that felt safe, since it was just for her.

Brian & Shannon | QueerTheology.com @queertheology.bsky.social · 29/05/2025
I made an off-the-cuff suggestion that a jockstrap could even be considered something queer+sacred, if it affirms your sexuality and sensuality, if it connects you to your community who also wear the same thing, if it reminds you that you are good. It kinda reminded me of tzitzit.

During that year's Queerness Every Day Challenge, one of the adventures was to get something you could see or wear daily to affirm the connections between your queerness and your spirituality. Pride flags, ace pins, an anime toy in bi colors, a rainbow rosary were all things people tried.

Special clothes & objects are part of many religious traditions. Catholics carry rosaries, monks wear robes, nuns wear habits, Mormons wear temple garments, Jews wear tzitzit, and gays... well lots of gay guys wear jockstraps. 2 years ago I decided to start wearing one daily as a spiritual practice

Queerness casts off binaries and makes space for all of the messy reality. In the wake of Pope Francis's passing, whatever you are feeling, we see you in it and honor those feelings.

One of the strange and beautiful parts about being an LGBTQ+ person of faith is the often complicated relationships we have with the faith communities that formed us. Even when there was harm done, there was often also much beauty there too.

Tradition states that last night Jesus emptied out all the jails. Spent Saturday night telling people “I don’t care what you did, people weren’t made for prisons.” The next day to prove His point He broke out of solitary. It is finished. Easter is incompatible with the carceral state. Happy Easter.

Easter is a reminder that empire no longer has a hold on us. That even death cannot defeat the work of God’s loving justice in the world. What could change if believed we could not lose and acted accordingly? Easter is scandalous: let us all be free.

One of the earliest and most widely accepted understanding of Jesus’s saving work is that he descended into hell, defeated death once and for all, and broke up the gates. It’s a prison break and we are all free to live into resurrection. Now, it’s time to live “as if”…
