RBA news awful for the millions in mortgage stress. It's punishment for homeowners & profit for the banks already making $$$ on home loans. Tax the 1%, not hard working people. Rates hikes won’t fix the housing crisis but a government that treats housing as a human right will.

Labor backbenchers have been out in force the past few days spruiking "increases" in Centrelink payments. To be very, very clear: this is absolute bullshit. This is an automatic CPI adjustment, not an increase. Labor is still keeping people on income support in poverty.

Deidre's husband waited months for a special chair he desperately needed. It arrived two weeks after he died. Labor's aged care reforms are a disaster: blowing out waitlists, denying care and forcing people off supports. Growing old should be a joy, not a struggle for survival.

We don’t have time for this. About 250 Australians die every year from heatwaves. That number is projected to sky-rocket to 6000 by 2100. The major parties are choosing their fossil fuel donors over people’s lives. A green transition means a liveable future for all of us.

Why does it always seem to be beautiful Qld that gets the raw deal? We're sleepwalking into an AI catastrophe. Without proper regulation, a data centre of this scale will have devastating impacts on energy, water use, people and the environment.

This Minister is completely out of his depth, and this is characteristic of the government’s reckless and botched implementation of their aged care reforms. How can older Australians trust this government anymore?

For almost a year now we’ve listened to the Aged Care minister defend the broken home support assessment system. Now we learn he wasn't briefed on the tool depriving clinicians of oversight until three days before the changes took effect.

Queensland’s LNP government has signed away our power and data to a trillion-dollar company. The site in Western Downs will use the same amount of energy as 1.5 million households. That’s 44x the population there! The community didn't ask for this. Moratorium now.

Woolies and Coles made a combined $2.2 billion in profits last year, while 53% of Australians reported finding it harder to put food on the table. If Aussies are struggling to put food on the table, Coles and Woolies shouldn’t be posting massive profits.

The big supermarkets want us to think they’re struggling with inflation, fuel prices and the cost of living too – and that’s why you’re paying more. Woolies is already in hot water with the ACCC for misleading customers, yet here they are lying about blatantly ripping us off.

We're only eight days into spring and Queensland is in flames. This is runaway global heating. This is what happens when weak politicians addicted to corporate cash let coal and gas companies write government policy. Labor must act. No more coal. No more gas. Transition now.

National Threatened Species Day has been observed in Australia for 30 years. It marks the death of the last Tasmanian Tiger in 1936, driven to extinction by a government bounty. Yet in 2026 governments are still failing, and we are facing yet more totally avoidable extinctions and habitat loss.

Spare me this performative bullshit, Senator. The thousands lost in Nepal and Tibet died because political parties like yours have been bought by fossil fuel dollars. It’s that simple. You say you have “sympathy”? Not enough sympathy to stop cooking the planet apparently.

They keep approving new coal and gas - their 37th just yesterday. They keep saying yes to their donors; Woodside, Tamboran, Adani. In the middle of the climate crisis, Labor is working for the big corporations fuelling the problem, instead of working for people and the planet.

37 coal and gas mine approvals under Labor is 37 too many. The Albanese government has today approved the extension of a coal mine in Queensland that will allow them to keep digging until 2055, and threaten critical koala habitat.

Labor has approved yet another coal project, extending it to 2055. Fossil fuels are incompatible with a liveable future. Far North Qld will be most at risk of sea level rises and heat-related deaths. We need a government that works for everyday people, not corporations.
Screenshot of The Guardian's article. Headline reads "Australia's new environmental protection agency approves coal project, angering climate groups". Byline reads "Queensland open-cut Saraji mine will be able to keep digging until 2055 as Anthony Albanese denies tensions with Pacific leaders over fossil fuels".

The Greens are calling for strong protections that ensure digital systems work for the people they’re designed to help. Equally, there must always be an in-person option for support. Social services should be there for all of us, no matter how we choose to interact. 3/5

DEWR is consulting on its draft Digital Protections Framework. This is an opportunity to make sure that the government's digital systems actually work for the people they’re supposed to help. But the current wording is weak and favours employment services providers. 2/5

If you’ve ever interacted with Services Australia or employment services, you’ve probably been pushed to do everything online. Then, when the online system fails, you can’t speak to a real person. You’re told to go back online with no support. 1/5

Another reminder that every time we’re doing it tough, these massive corporations are gleefully raking in massive increases to their profits. Big oil and gas companies don’t want to switch to cheap & green renewables, because then how will they extort us?

We're in a cost of living crisis - but the PM delivers for big corporations & tech bros, not you. You'll be paying for AI every time you turn on the lights or aircon. With so many workers facing losing their jobs due to AI, you shouldn’t pay for it on every power bill too.

We needed these tax changes to see house prices come down out of the stratosphere, and to give first homebuyers a chance - but there’s no fix in isolation. Freeze rents. Build public housing. Give renters and first homebuyers a chance.

Renters can’t cop another 30% rent increase. Now real estate agents say it’ll happen, rich property investors are being told to hike up rents as much as they want. Renters are facing unlimited rent increases. There’s just one way to stop it. We need an immediate rent freeze.

Under the NDIS people with MND are able to access around $300k a year for their complex needs. It’s often not enough. But if you’re diagnosed with MND over 65, the most you can get in an aged care package is $78k. It's utterly absurd.
