All "workarounds" in your code are potential Chesterton's fences. Comment them well or the next guy or gal will tear them down. This tweet as much a "note to self" as unsolicited advice.

I got nersniped into proposing a potential afternoon/evening of Takes, to be held somewhere in the Bay Area, sometime in August. Got a Take? Have an insatiable appetite for Attention? Submit your Take so that we might have an event: ehat.fyi oh no

One thing that crystalized to me this #PyConUS is that I judge my conferences by the amount of meaningful social interactions. There's always more ppl that I want to hang out with than I end up, especially given that I had some kind of vocal chord injury and didn’t take advantage of all nights 1/7

I tried the impossible task of condensing my #PyConUS experience into a blog post... I did not succeed... After posting it and re-reading it, I thought of at least half a dozen more interactions that I wished to highlight, and the more I sit with it, the more I realize that my attempt was […]

Turns out some old (and new) friends were feeling the same way, so we got a crew together from the Old Days and we spun up a collective, got fiscal hosting with Raft Foundation (badasses!), and spent a couple of months building processes and testing ways to work and things to make, and now we're […]

Btw Pantheon is finally out on Netflix. I think it’s one of the best animated series / best sci-fi series (animated and not). It revolves around the concept of ‘UI’ (uploaded intelligence) which feels like a parallel to AI. The themes it takes on are super smart. Very compelling. We binged it […]

Too much good material in this Marshall Project keynote. I got a chance to chat with them on Friday (and plugged @civicband, I'm sure you'll hear about them, @phildini), but I'll still be going back to this talk after the conference. Thank you, @pycon! #PyConUS

a thing I love about mastodon is that a few months ago I didn't even know SXSW was happening since no one here was talking about it, but today I'm keenly aware that PyCon is happening, because half my feed, including people I follow for mostly bike and soccer stuff are all at PyCon.

If you've never had the opportunity to attend a conference, I understand. In some ways, it is a luxury to be able to do so. But if you're on the fence, or if you've ever thought to sign up for opportunity grants--don't hesitate. There are many advantages beyond mere "information gathering" […]

Just today, I was able to reconnect with individuals I've only previously met at a conference event, or only met online. They are people that are kind of like me, but mostly NOT like me. And that is great! We need tech to be less tech and more human. 6/6
