From America, Aug 1952: Tangy Vegetable Cooler with Horse-radish Snow Dressing ad from Birds Eye (+Chopped Spinach and French Style Green Beans) «Birds Eye Recipe takes the heat out of August Supper-Fixing»
This vintage advertisement features a summer supper recipe using frozen vegetables, along with images of happy children promoting the brand and a finished dish. The recipe includes spinach, green beans, tomatoes and a horseradish dressing.

Birds Eye Recipe takes the heat out of August Supper-Fixing

You fix it in advance... Place 1 box of clean-as-a-whistle and ready-to-cook Birds Eye Chopped Spinach, cubed, in 1/2 cup of boiling salted water. Bring to full boil. Drain and chill. Mix the chilled spinach with ½ cup each of diced celery and cucumber, 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion and 3 tablespoons French dressing. Chill again...
Cook 1 box of dewy-fresh, ready-for-the-pot Birds Eye French Style Green Beans as directed on the package, boiling just 5 minutes. Drain, chill...
Be sure you have 4 red-ripe tomatoes and a head of lettuce in the refrigerator...
You put it together in minutes... Spoon the delicious Birds Eye Spinach mixture into 4 large tomatoes which have been cut open to form petals and sprinkled with salt and pepper. Set on large platter. Pile the crispy Birds Eye Green Beans in lettuce cups around the tomatoes...
You “dress” it in seconds... Blend 1/2 cup of sour cream with 1/4 cup mayonnaise and 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish. Pour it over the tomato cups and the green beans. Tastiest vegetable supper you ever served!

From America, Aug 1943: Air Transport ad from Airlines of the United States (+Passenger Flights; Air Mail; and Air Express) «THIS, TOO, IS AIR POWER!»
An ad during World War II promoting the essential role of airlines in the war effort, transporting passengers, mail, and express services. It highlights the adaptability of the airlines, the increase in transport services, and President Roosevelt's comments about the future opportunities in commercial aviation post-war.

THIS, TOO, IS AIR POWER!

TRANSPORT PLANES that serve the home front are a measure of U. S. air power, as surely as the bombers that blast the Axis. Today, as for many years, the United States is the leading power in air transport. Its Airlines knit hundreds of cities and foreign countries into a single airways system, with faster, more efficient service than ever attained by any other nation. Consequently, when the Japs struck at Pearl Harbor, they asked for the greatest show of air transport the world has ever witnessed. Built during years of peace, the Airlines required no conversion for war. They were ready to go! They promptly handled a sharp increase in tonnage - passengers, mail, express - despite the fact that half their planes were assigned to military duty. The Airlines also helped the Army and Navy establish air supply routes to every fighting zone-and are now operating a giant fleet of transport planes over this global system. So wherever you see a transport plane, remember this: IT, TOO, IS AIR POWER-an integral part of our war machine. And when the war is only a memory these same Airlines, with over a billion miles of experience behind them, will continue in friendly commerce. As PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT recently said: "With the dawn of peace, commercial aviation will have new and greater opportunities for which it will be all the better prepared by reason of the training and experience it is now getting." When you travel by Air make reservations early; please cancel early if plans change. When you use Air Express speed delivery by dispatching shipments as soon as they're ready. Advert Lucky Dip: From America, Aug 1944: Ad for The Doctor Fights (more at @OldInPrintAds.bsky.social) «Thanks to PENICILLIN ... He Will Come Home!»
This is an advert promoting the discovery and mass production of Penicillin and shows a wounded soldier getting aid. The advert details the development and importance of Penicillin during World War II as a life-saving treatment.

Thanks to PENICILLIN ... He Will Come Home!

On the gaudy, green-and-yellow mold above, called Penicillium notatum in the laboratory, grows the miraculous substance first discovered by Professor Alexander Fleming in 1928. Named penicillin by its discoverer, it is the most potent weapon ever developed against many of the deadliest infections known to man. Because research on molds was already a part of Schenley enterprise, Schenley Laboratories were well able to meet the problem of large-scale production of penicillin, when the great need for it arose. When the thunderous battles of this war have subsided to pages of silent print in a history book, the greatest news event of World War II may well be the discovery and development - not of some vicious secret weapon that destroys - but of a weapon that saves lives. That weapon, of course, is penicillin. Every day, penicillin is performing some unbelievable act of healing on some far battlefront. Thousands of men will return home who otherwise would not have had a chance. Better still, more and more of this precious drug is now available for civilian use... to save the lives of patients of every age. A year ago, production of penicillin was difficult, costly. Today, due to specially-devised methods of mass-production, in use by Schenley Laboratories, Inc. and the 20 other firms designated by the government to make penicillin, it is available in ever-increasing quantity, at progressively lower cost. From America, Sep 1937: Tomato Juice ad from Heinz «From a Cowboy's Beverage to a NATIONAL DRINK!»
An ad from September 1937 featuring a cowboy on horseback, endorsing a refreshing drink. It describes a transition from a cowboy's essential thirst quencher to a national favourite, emphasizing its purity and taste.

From a Cowboy's Beverage to a NATIONAL DRINK!

ANY veteran cow-puncher will tell you that the most refreshing of all beverages-bar none-is the pure, unadulterated juice of red-ripe tomatoes. On the plains, a half century ago, herdsmen-far from creek or spring-toted canned tomatoes in their saddle bags and drank the thirst-quenching juice direct from the tin. It was a cowboy's beverage then. Now, as you know, practically everyone drinks a chilled glass or so, properly pressed and packaged, at one time or another during the 24 hours. You'll particularly relish Heinz Tomato Juice, because it's the pure, sparkling, full-bodied article -packed from the plumpest special-bred tomatoes ever fattened on black soil and golden August sunlight! Keep an assortment of tins or bottles on ice. It's grand the night before - indispensable the morning after!
