Definition of the word coco palm from Webster's New International Dictionary of the English Language (1930). The relevant portion reads: The spelling cocoa appeared first in Johnson's dic-. Full transcription of the definition available upon request if you're a freak like me I guess

Continuation from the previous image, this time with definitions for cocoa, coca bean, cocoa nibs, coca paste, cocoa powder, cocoa shells, coco-bolo, coco grass, and coconut. The relevant portion is at the top, reading: -tionary, probably as a mistake, and later became the more common spelling; coco, however, is the spelling preferred by careful writers. Dictionaries from ~1910 list both spellings. Webster's 1930 edition indicates a preference for coconut, suggesting cocoanut was a mistake, so usage probably began to peter out around then? But still hung on until the 70s/80s?

Kimchi jjigae à la my father, as requested by a friend (which is why the recipe is written very casually). Another option: stir-fry pork belly first and use the fat as the cooking oil at the beginning!

Kimchi (fist-sized per person)

On high
Fry kimchi in cooking oil (2-3 spoonful)
Mix until the white part of kimchi has yellowish sheen
Add water, halfway up to kimchi, get very hot
Once water gets very red (2-3 min)

Add optional things!
GARLIC (not too much, it'll be boiled for eatin mostly)
Ground red pepper powder (for extra spice)
MSG/beef dashida (for that real restaurant flavor)

Add water so that it is about 2x more than kimchi total (1/3 kimchi 2/3 water)
Add canned tuna if you like tuna, juice and all
Close lid
Change temp to medium or med low
Cook for 10 min

Eat kimchi and determine what kimchi texture you like (longer cook for mushier), soup should also be fairly salty b/c it's meant to be eaten with rice so adjust to taste with salt or soy sauce

Optional toppings:
Green onion
Tofu

That is basic resipe, can add deongjang (soybean paste) gochujang (red pepper+soybean paste) or soy sauce or like a million other variations but this recipe will do you good :)
