Quite a few early (pre-WWI) American Jewish Dormans are from Gorlice or Rychwałd, and many are kohanim (I think the Holocaust survivor branch via Tarnów is the exception - his Gorlice-born father had his mother's surname)

Of the four children of Reb Binyamin Zev Segal ("Velvel Bubes") of Tzfas known to have survived to adulthood, one married a granddaughter of my focus-ancestor Reb Alter of Tverya (R. Avraham Yosef haLevi) and two were mechutanim of his children. Rav Don Segal is a descendant of the remaining one.

I'm not so confident about the claim of descent from Maimonides referenced there - Leah certainly believed she was a descendant of the Rambam - but at its root is the valid tradition that she was from one of the few Ashkenazi families descended of the rabbinic Abulafias, invited to refound...

bnei hess was a sub dialect of ashkenazi hebrew in the medieval era. people who were part of bnei hess pronounced ח as /h/ instead of as /χ/ so the name is a joke

Also you are not a descendant of Rabbi Joseph Caro, the Caro family tree is one of the most notorious hoaxes in rabbinic genealogy. The Polish rabbinical Caros have no connection to the Sephardic ones.
