This past summer I had the chance to play a bit of Paco Ronco adaptation of MMP's GCACW to European conflicts (Napoleonic and Prussian wars). As a European the US civil war was always remote, but this system in this new context. What a fest! Looking forward to MMP publication.

Just tried Paco Ronco forthcoming adaptation/protos of mmp's GCACW for the Napoleonic and XIX era (Battle of Bailen) & this wknd it will be 1866 Battle of Königgrätz. What a blast & well thought adaptation to the different tactics of the period!!!! Likely 2 b a hit for MMP.

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children. This is learned today: Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%. www.npr.org/2026/03/11/n...

After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative.

The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

Not sure we have a game or game system at the time that models this new war we are seeing - no Next War, no JADO, no TCW, no Littoral Commander. They r all too focused in purely military aspects, when what we see is the critical targeting of civilians and civil infrastructure

Well, I could only go for one day. But Hispabellum, the Sevilla's wargame convention, has, I think, a long future aheAd. It was sold out in 48 hours, well connected city, and a strong local wargame community. Spanish wargaming community has never had so many conventions in their calendar 1/2

Gross, "The Discriminating Gamer" just gave a big endorsement to Werwolf, the knock off COIN game about the Nazi fantasy around throwing off the shackles of the allied occupation and restoring the Reich. Seeing wargamers react positively to a neo nazi propaganda work has been quite galling.

Does it matter? I would argue it very much does.
That is the most undisciplined/"fuck it" attitude I' ever seen in a military parade by a country mile. It made me cringe constantly while watching.
They didn't give enough of a damn to respect the moment and/or their commanders were too uncaring to keep them looking polished for a public event of that extraordinary significance.
And I don't blame them.
