Arlie Neskahi notes that oral traditions "REQUIRE us to carry the teachings within our very being and share them with our relations." For many reasons perhaps working class folks feel the responsibility to share more deeply with books as an extension of that ethic. www.arlieneskahi.com?page_id=25 3)

On my socials, admittedly mostly olds like me, the people who most often sharing books are working class. My hypothesis why that might be follows from Marshall McLuhan's technologies as "extensions of man." 2)

Last month I scaled the paywall to read a piece about reading decline www.chronicle.com/article/my-s.... Students from schools with smaller classes, restricted cell phones, and that didn't orient every lesson to standard tests retained competency. That sounded like upper class students. 1)

Where is the Scott Pelley at the Washington Post? Will there be a Pelley at CNN? Is there anyone inside the New York Times questioning its misjudgments? Is there anyone left at the gutted hedge-fund-owned newspapers in America to stand up on principle as Pelley has? Where are journalism's defenders?

I'm old and dumb. My sense is that Americans in the South are less racist now. Older times when the Fed began to take racist terrorism seriously, white people came more aware of the extent of it and saw it as against their interests. Tone it down. Now that terrorism is less: Dial it up.
