I wish that the 33.3% off railcards on the trains weren't a thing and instead they just reduced the fare prices right across the board by 25%.

Decades ago, I needed to change a bulb in one of the lights on my first car. In the index of the manual I had no luck looking under 'b' for 'bulb', nor 'l' for 'light'. In the end, I was reduced to reading through the entire thing until I found it under 'h' for 'how to change the bulbs'.

I don't agree with the death penalty, but... is everything broken or incompetent in the US governance at the moment? Two lethal injections and someone doesn't die, so they take them to hospital to make sure they're alive before trying again? A strange dichotomy.

From The Times obit for Esther Rantzen. Nothing against Ms Rantzen but us dogsbodies trained for 9 months to “do the chores” and would like to see the obit writer survive “Red Light Fever” and operate the panel in a busy studio live on air or create believable sound effects for a convincing drama.

Let’s talk about my Bake Off bench in the tent. There’s been a bit of talk about my set up and whether or not it was suitable for me. But I can categorically say that I LOVED that bench set up and part of the reason I ended up with cake on the floor was because I felt so empowered by my set up that I convinced myself I could do everything by myself! If I had that set up at home I’d probably never leave the kitchen! #BakeOff #GBBO #Accessible

I was just typing something about the new Japanese movie All of a Sudden, and a little bubble popped up next to it saying "Concision: 'Suddenly' would be a better way to say this." If I could make the program that did this scream and beg for mercy, I would do it and sleep just fine tonight.

The car culture of "beating the red light" by driving through solid amber lights has to stop. It puts people in danger and is too common. This driver on this morning's school run had plenty of time to stop on amber and didn't. The Highway Code is clear on this. @metpolice.bsky.social

People simply have no training or experience of driving a car bigger than an Astra. Therefore they drive with 1.5m clearance around them at all times to avoid kerbs, cars, the other carriageway and anything else. I reckon that the car driving test needs to include a section on driving a van or tank.

The cutting corners is fine (ish) if it's quiet, but when busy, it blocks both ways. Also large cars seem to take the middle of the lane regardless of direction of travel. I drive a van sometimes for work and I'm increasingly aware that other large car drivers just have no spatial awareness. 2/3

Rant: Just come back from Tesco and I'm convinced people don't know how to drive. Taxis parking blocking car park routes, drivers ignoring level crossings, driver parking a (granted, large car, like most others nowadays) diagonally across two spaces, and cutting corners on the lanes marked. 1/3

I live on a northern terraced street. Council PAYG kerbside chargers would be fab; none of the 'my space' argument and the move to encourage electric is driven from the community. With no space of my own, as it were, it's difficult to justify an electric car when I can't charge it at home.

I'm on the TPS register (Telephone Preference Service, for no unsolicited calls) but recently have had a few robotic auto calls come through. My phone warns me of them possibly being spam, so I've answered them with silence so far. Should I be reporting the numbers to the TPS? What's started this?

Got bag of wotsits in a meal deal for the first time in years. Nostalgia aside - I'm /sure/ they used to be bigger in diameter? These are about 8-9mm diameter, and I reckon they used to be 12-15mm diameter? Length seems unchanged. Not a major issue as I guess you get more wotsit per unit volume now!

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
