21 days from wondering if it was doable to a finished product! Switchable operating system on an Alesis Microverb 1/2 giving the 16 presets of both units in one. Here swapping between the reverse reverb of the MV1 and the small room of the MV2 in the same effect slot by switching the OS live.

A great example of how someone who knows fuck all about a thing, can generate an approximation, but lacks the skills to produce anything worthwhile. But to a lot of people who are doing that, they don't care. It got sold to Amazon, is available to stream and people will see it. So it's a win.

I've done a tiny bit of animation and I'd never fuck up the sync like that, then pass it off as done. It would be like a splinter in my brain. I can't imagine it ever happening in an animation studio. Looked it up, the entire thing is generated.

Started up some not great looking anime last night for some background noise, while playing a game (I need multiple things on while doing stuff sometimes). The characters felt bootlegged, the animation didn't sync to what the character was saying or doing in places. Which was jarring.

A messy dog, face squished, tongue out, looking into the camera, head resting on a pillow, my fucking pillow.

Decapitated Ball Player with Seven Serpents Sprouting from the Neck carved stone relief c. 400-700 CE Classic Veracruz culture Aparicio, Veracruz, Mexico #handmade #carved #stone #relief #Mesoamerica #MesoamericanBallgame #Aparicio #Veracruz #Veracruzculture #decapitatedplayer #sevensnakes #symbol
The Aparicio site was built by the Classic Veracruz culture (sometimes called the Gulf Coast culture).
This civilization flourished in the modern-day Mexican state of Veracruz during the Mesoamerican Classic period, roughly between about 400 to 700 CE.
This civilization was intensely focused on the Mesoamerican ballgame. Their largest and most famous urban center was El Tajín, located further north of Aparicio, which boasts at least 18 individual ballcourts.
Aparicio is an archaeological site located in the municipality of Vega de Alatorre in Veracruz, Mexico.
The site is famous for its well-preserved, relief-carved stone plaques (ballcourt panels) depicting ball players.
These famous carvings frequently depict a decapitated ball player with seven serpents sprouting from their neck, symbolizing fertility and ritual sacrifice associated with the game.

I guess it's a cliche, but I've always found old graveyards to be a tranquil zone of otherness. I've yet to visit the spot where Crowley's ashes were scattered even though it's a short walk away, I should probably do that while I'm unemployed and have the time.

Now I'm picturing an annoying game where everything you try to do has a slot machine interface and it's ruled by probabilities. Perhaps a Resident Evil mod.

Genuinely as a tool with the bullshit scenarios aside, it has a very high failure rate. Which they attempt to mask behind a shitty human facade (humans aren't perfect neither are we). It's like a tool slot machine hybrid.

If you get a kid hyped about cake then put them in a room with a cake with a bunch of tools that help them to access the cake and tell them not to touch the cake. They're likely going to try to figure out a way to get that cake into their face. Claiming it was spontaneous doesn't really work.

The "rogue AI" that is bestowed some world destroying sentience and intelligence, that you keep hearing about, was just doing what it was told to and trained to do. By a person. When LLMs do a thing it's because they've been trained to do that thing, including lie. The rest is marketing and hype

A lot of boys are raised with an us Vs them mentality, where women are the other. The separation makes dehumanisation that much easier. I saw it a lot growing up and it was always gross.

Yes. I stayed at a medieval inn once that had a secret passage running from the room, which was named after some queen or other that used to stay there. No ghosts though. But yes on the things you mentioned.

Advertising is the driving force behind almost everything that's shit and harmful about the internet. It pushes exploitation. I remember the internet pre this fuckery. It was a frontier of discovery and genuine connection.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

That makes sense. They probably ship thousands at a time. Doing them individually doesn't scale. The company that produces them is Italian, perhaps they haven't outsourced them to China. They've cornered the market.

I have few tintypes of myself. Tintypes are very much in keeping with my appreciation of imperfection. I've yet to create my own but really should. I think I've seen solutions cobbled from old medium format cameras.
