+1. USN has very good defenses vs typical naval attack, e.g. a cruise missile fired from the mainland or a patrol boat. Iran might have more luck with something smaller, e.g., drones launched from nearby fishing boats at dusk.

In Canada the excise tax is $1 CAD per gram, so about $0.72 USD. That is already high enough to cause major financial problems for producers. $1.31 USD per gram would be almost double that.

Business conference & convention travel was hard hit. The US share of Canadian travel spending for that fell almost in half, from 30% to 17%.

In 2025-26, Canadians spent 6.4% ($8.2B) more on travel than the year before. But the share spent on travel to the US fell from 20% to 16%. So, the US lost-out on about $5B, 7 times more than its lost alcohol exports to Canada. 💲✈️🏖️ #EconSky

The trade deficit is much smaller when you include trade in services like tourism, education, & licensing, rather than just goods. In 2025, the US had a $48.3 B goods deficit but a $27.7 B services surplus. So the net deficit was only $20.6 B. ustr.gov/countries-re...
