I’ve signed this letter. If you teach at a UK uni you come into contact with many trans students; they’re no different, apart from the higher barriers to inclusion they face. If you teach queer history, you know that gender diversity is a simple fact. We have to resist this harmful moral panic.

Such a big question Rebecca! Once you're in a tenured post then probably need to make sure you can tick the boxes for service and teaching - committees, teaching external examining etc - as well as research commitments. I have always done 50/50 clinical/ academia because that's been my contract.
