Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 3hYeah they've started to move into some higher end movements and they've gone bananas on pricing. It's unsupportable and I'll be shocked if they don't price-correct soon. Their aesthetic is stunning tho. I love both Marlin and Waterbury lines. 010

Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 6hAbsolutely. And if you like high quality inexpensive watches Casio is king. Their watches look incredible and are amazing performers IMO. Timex has stunning designs as well. 130

Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 6hToday I'm wearing a Ratio Freedriver GMT which is legit one of the best deals in the watch world (a decently made automatic GMT for $US200 is almost impossible to find). Ratio is an incredibly good value. 120
Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 6hYeah the trend is for larger watches but there's plenty of sub-40mm that one can find (I have a smaller wrist, so have to wear smaller watches mostly) 120
Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 6hSure! Chinese mechanical watches are incredible value and many of them are really nice watches (Seagull, Boderry, Militado, San Martin). But also microbrands can deliver amazing value. (Dan Henry, Vario, Islander, among many others). 120
Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 7hI mean they are luxury goods so the mark-up is ridiculous. But you can find smaller brands where the markup is reasonable IMO 110

Daniel S. Goldberg @profgoldberg.bsky.social · 22hMaybe an unpopular opinion among watch nerds but I vastly prefer manual winds to self-winding automatics. It takes ~8-10 hours of wear to fully wind many self-winding watches. I can fully power a hand -wind watch in about 30 seconds. Plus the tactile feedback from winding is awesome.static.klipy.comKuiil: I Have SpokenAlt: Kuiil: I Have Spoken 0110
