Venus is 2.8 times hotter than Mercury, despite Mercury being closer to the Sun. Why? Venus' atmosphere is primarily CO2, which traps heat.
So what happens when we add CO2 to our atmosphere? It traps heat.
This shouldn't be that difficult to understand.
