In case, you are all eyeballing Rust now after DHH endorsed it, keep in mind that it comes at a cost. I don't mean comprehension, agents can tackle that. It's the pure iteration slowldown caused by build speed. If your boss wants 100s of PRs/d now, you won't be able to reach the KPI that way.

What I really miss from JetBrains' Goland, is how easy it was to move types around. You just drag the type across packages, and all the imports get fixed automatically. I haven't been able to replicate it with CLI tools, and with AI agents, big refactors are even more wasteful.

Negative parallelism ("It's not just that ... it's the other thing") is such a PITA in AI text that I am sick of it. I've set up a series of deterministic linter rules to flag texts with those and more, using a tool called Vale: vale.sh. You don't want to know how much of AI text comes down my feeds

I can't stop you from using AI to write for you. I also can't make you read its stuff after. But, you can at least make them sound less grandiose, by telling the tool to avoid “negative parallelism.” This is the infamous “Not because X, but because Y” that LLMs tend to overdose on. Now, you know.

I have a suspicion that part of the reason why #macOS 27 runs so snappy, even while still being in beta, is because it only supports M-series chips. I know, there are IFDEFs and conditional compilation - logic says it shouldn’t be the case, but who knows.

I installed the macOS 27 beta on a spare 2020 M1 Mac Mini and ran Geekbench before and after. Most scores improved, one dropped slightly.
