My favorite case study: A school gave us an insurance proposal that cost $16,000 per employee. When we countered with a $6,000 per worker plan we moved some of those savings into wages. They proceeded to panic in session because they realized *just then* how much their initial proposal cost.

Saying this openly in certain philosophy programs will get you a death stare, but its also correct. Good, complex arguments, should be clear and have a propulsive beat that drives you thru the argument. If you aren't quite sure what has been proposed, then the author may not be sure either.
