Only Jeffrey Archer thing of note I have to say is that his very fancy penthouse apartment at Peninsula Heights, Vauxhall (then owned by Stanley Baker) was used in Theatre of Blood (1973). Which is a great film I’m going to have to watch again now!

Some scams are easier to spot than others. That said, we get these semi-regularly and they are only getting more focused and custom-tailored, so be careful writers! And, no, we didn’t reply, but it was super-tempting.

Text from a scam email message which reads:

Hi Arthur C. Clarke,

I recently came across 2001: A Space Odyssey, the 25th Anniversary Edition, and wanted to reach out.

I’ve been connecting with authors whose books are available to readers but may not be reaching as many new audiences as they could.

I’m curious how has your experience been with book visibility and reaching new readers? And have you considered exploring new ways to promote your book or expand its reach to additional platforms?

I’d genuinely be interested in hearing your thoughts and experience.

I was put off going to the doctors for years after living with a medical student. One day she came home and recounted how she had picked up an anatomical model of half a skull and brain, discovered it was squishy, realised it was real, panicked, dropped it on the floor and smashed it.

I’ve done Shop on the High Street, Diamonds of the Night and Cassandra Cat so far, Marketa Lazorova, Valley of the Bees and The Ear to go. Although getting my head turned by the Georgian programme at the Lumiere, just booked the Wishing Tree so far but that might change after pay day!

40th Anniversary screening of Transformers: The Movie. Assumed it would be just the dorks going but it was (except me) dorks WITH their kids. I saw at least three Dads excitedly turn to their kids when Orson Welles’ name appeared in the opening credits, think about saying something, then not bother.
