Ford tearing out Toronto bike lanes is pure math: sacrificing urban ridings he doesn't need to win suburban voters. Proportional representation ends this cynical game. When every vote counts everywhere, Conservatives must appeal to cities and Liberals to rural ridings.
An graphic created by Fair Vote Canada titled "Doug Ford's Targeted Decisions: Hit safe opposition seats". The top half displays a map of Toronto electoral ridings colored blue for Progressive Conservative, red for Liberal, and orange for NDP. Black indicators map out targeted locations concentrated entirely in orange and red opposition-held ridings: the Bloor St, Yonge St, and University Ave bike lanes, Ontario Place, and Billy Bishop Airport. The bottom half outlines these three areas in detail alongside icons for a bike, airplane, and building. Text clarifies that targeted bike lanes on Bloor, University, and Yonge, the expansion of Billy Bishop Airport, and the redevelopment of Ontario Place are all situated in opposition ridings. A prominent red banner across the bottom reads: "SAFE OPPOSITION SEATS DON'T HELP HIS MAJORITY. So he can sacrifice them to win over suburban swing ridings."

Poll modeling shows Doug Ford's PCs could win another majority government on just 34% of the vote. First-past-the-post bails out unpopular governments while the rest of us suffer. We need proportional representation so governments always represent a broad majority.
A screenshot of a post by Polling Canada (@CanadianPolling) with the text "PC Majority on these numbers" above a table displaying political party polling projections. The table lists party percentages, projected seats, and seat ranges: Green Party (GRN) at 5%, 2 seats (range 2-2); New Democratic Party (NDP) at 27%, 33 seats (range 27-41); Liberal Party (LIB) at 26%, 20 seats (range 13-29); Progressive Conservative Party (PC) at 34%, 66 seats (range 52-78); and Others (OTH) at 8%, 3 seats (range 2-4). Below the table is a quoted post from Polling Canada detailing Ontario Provincial Polling results and percentage changes from the 2025 election: PCPO at 34% (-9), ONDP at 27% (+8), OLP at 26% (-4), GPO at 5% (-), and Others at 8%. The polling metadata notes Mainstreet, Sept 29, 2026, a sample size of n=1062, a margin of error of 2.8%, and IVR methodology, ending with a link to check out more details on @338Canada.

When the PQ first won in ’76, Pierre Trudeau commissioned the Task Force on Canadian Unity. It warned first-past-the-post fueled alienation by locking regions out. The fix? Proportional representation, giving voice to Quebec federalists, Urban Conservatives, & Prairie Liberals alike.
An educational graphic by Fair Vote Canada titled "The 1979 Pepin - Robarts Commission: Why was it created?" The graphic explains that support for Quebec sovereignty grew rapidly in the 1970s, leading to the election of René Lévesque's Parti Québécois in 1976 on a platform promising an independence referendum. In response, Pierre Trudeau created the Task Force on Canadian Unity in 1977 to strengthen national unity. Visual elements include the Fair Vote Canada logo, a fleur-de-lis icon, the PQ logo, a silhouette map of Quebec beside a ballot box, and an illustration of Parliament Hill.An educational graphic by Fair Vote Canada titled "Electoral Reform Recommendation: Fixing Regional Representation." The image states that the Task Force found First-Past-the-Post artificially regionalizes politics, harms federal unity, and allows parties to win majority seats without a majority of votes. To fix this, the Commission recommended Proportional Representation to accurately reflect votes and reduce regional disparities. A red banner at the bottom concludes: "Proportional Representation (PR) = More accurate results, Fairer representation, Stronger unity."

We analyzed some of Ford’s most controversial Toronto decisions and found they all target safe opposition ridings. Under first-past-the-post, unneeded ridings get sacrificed. Proportional representation ensures votes everywhere build seats, so no community can be steamrolled.
Infographic showing Doug Ford's targeted decisions affecting Downtown Toronto. A map marks bike lanes on Bloor, Yonge, and University, Billy Bishop Airport, and Ontario Place in opposition held ridings. Icons repeat these targets, stating safe opposition seats do not help Ford's majority, so they are sacrificed for suburban swing ridings.

In regards to the Cornell situation, a group sexual assault or gang rape is one thing, but if the group chat was advertising a woman to other men as "free p*ssy" (essentially telling members that sexual access to her was available), that raises a different question for me: At what point do we consider that MORE than just assault, but an organized, coordinated sexual crime? Because it seems like it's crossing the line into trafficking to me.

Polling shows the PQ could win a majority with just 30%, the lowest vote share for a majority in Canadian history. First-past-the-post is broken. The PQ promises proportional representation in term one, but absolute power creates excuses. Holding them accountable starts now.
Text excerpt reading: "Just under a week out from the Oct. 5 election, Quebec's political landscape remains so divided that the PQ could nab a majority of the province's 127 seats with scarcely 30 per cent of the vote. It would be an unprecedented ending to an unusual campaign, in which none of the PQ's four opponents have been able to mount a compelling case against the sovereigntist party."
