I'd heard Home Bargains were selling these Pepsi tumblers. More surprising was the poorly taped-up multipacks of Korean peach flavour Pepsi Zero Sugar?! No valid barcode on the packaging so getting these rung up at the checkout was a nightmare. Apparently imported to the UK by "Meeran Ltd."

A black Pepsi branded tumbler, sold in a box with two standard-sized 330ml cans of Pepsi Max (contained within the tumbler itself and not visible here).

A sticker affixed to each can with nutritional and distribution information in English, placed on top of the Korean text. Evidently this is why the multipacks had the wrappers opened, then hastily put back together using brown parcel tape - it was so the importer [Meeran Ltd.] could get the stickers on the cans.

Visited Smyths after my TF:TM trip. Wanted to get at least one bot to commemorate the occasion but after five minutes of staring in disbelief at the current prices of mainline #Transformers I immediately went to the nearby Home Bargains and bought this £6 Authentics Mirage instead 😄

I always had this vague childhood memory of it being mentioned in the paper that there was gonna be a local screening of #Transformers: The Movie, and my dad said he'd take me but for whatever reason, never did. What I didn't remember was that it was in Feb '87, two months after the UK release!

Article from a February 1987 edition of the Banffshire Journal which reads as follows:

There is a double treat in store for cinema-goers in the Banff and Macduff area next week... with a special attraction for the children.

For The Moving Picture Show is to present TWO films in Macduff Town Hall next Wednesday, February 11.

And the first feature, at 5.55pm is bound to be a big attraction for the young children — “Transformers — The Movie.”

Transformers are the biggest children's attraction at the moment, with the television series a major hit.

Now, thanks to the man behind The Moving Picture Show, Mr lan Rattray, local children will get the chance to see the film that has taken the big city cinemas by storm.

Later in the evening, at 7.40pm, the Picture Show will present the superb Clint Eastwood movie “Heartbreak Ridge" and this is bound to be another major attraction.

lan says that it is the intention of the Picture Show to try and bring top films to suit all tastes — and ages — to Macduff.

A big part of the appeal of TMNT and Ghostbusters for me as a kid was Donnie, Ray and Egon cobbling together their tech in their respective workshops from whatever they could find. It's something I made a key aspect of Corbie, that Corinne has grown up aspiring to be an inventor like her dad!

Thinking about how this franchise started out hiring master artists like Earl Norem to bring these characters to life in licensed material, and now all indicators suggest that Hasbro's fine with cutting humans out of the creative process altogether. I'm dismayed that it's come to this.

This is how I got my Scorponok for Xmas '89, a year after getting Metroplex in the '88 sale. It's wild to think about now but Asda consistently came through with discounted Transformers during the G1 era. (Also one of my brothers had that talking Mickey!)

Sometimes toys simply expire from old age and it's not even your fault. I was cleaning up the G2 shelves and Hotrod (or Jolt, if you're American) had just collapsed in two, his internal "O-ring" having rotted away 🙁 Will have to see if I have a suitable replacement in storage... #Transformers

All interior pages for the giant-sized Corbie issue #5 are done. It's taken a whole year and it's been the most overwhelming comic project I've ever undertaken, but I'm officially sounding the Rodimus "It's really over" alarm 🔥🔥🔥

Over time I've accumulated multiple copies of all the Ladybird Transformers books, but especially Autobots' Lightning Strike and Autobots Fight Back. I think I have at least five of each. Didn't go looking to own that many intentionally, it just sorta happened 😄

Since I just re-purchased my old personal stereo, now seemed like a good time to get some tapes for it. Janet Jackson's remix album from 1995 is a rare example of a release that's arguably better on this format - the UK/EU cassette is 95 minutes long, the CD/streaming version only 72 minutes. #music

And being a quick thinker she made them think she was part of their gang, even though she hated trouble wherever she was.

And this was a worrying thing because he had been seen in the shadows, where the other gangs were having meetings about how to deal with Corvidia.

It took me years to identify it and track down a cheap one but at last I've been reunited with my personal stereo from my preteen years, the Sharp JC-130! No rewind button on this model, but the built-in AM/FM radio was a huge plus for a kid who didn't have many tapes 🎧 #retro #vintage
