The Kennedy Center was given its name by an act of Congress after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Pretty sure its current board, which includes revered fine arts dignitaries like Laura Ingraham, Pamela Jo Bondi, Maria Bartiromo, and Lee Greenwood, can't undo that law.

In a world of Jeffs, be like MacKenzie.
A tweet from My Mixtapez (@mymixtapez) says:
“Billionaire MacKenzie Scott has gifted another $38 million to Atlanta’s Spelman College, bringing her total donations to 8 HBCUs to $387 million in the past 30 days.
She has been donating billions of her wealth every year since her divorce from ex-husband Jeff Bezos in 2019.”
The image shows MacKenzie Scott smiling at an event, and in the corner, a smaller inset photo shows two joyful Spelman College graduates in caps and gowns.

Look at this shit. #AbolishICE
A Boston federal judge today ordered the immediate release of an Ecuadorean national living in Framingham who was detained by the Border Patrol in Maine on May 14, handed over to ICE, shipped to Youngstown, OH, ordered released on July 1 on payment of a $15,000 bond, grabbed by Homeland Security in New Hampshire on July 25, shipped down to the Plymouth County jail and ordered released again by an immigration judge in Chelmsford on Aug. 4, on just $1,500 bond. Only this time ICE refused to let him out as it appealed his bond to the Board of Immigration Appeals in Falls Church, VA.

In a ruling this afternoon, US District Court Judge Indira Talwani said enough.

We’ve updated our story with an additional comment provided by the United States Justice Department.
At 4:10 p.m., she texted me: "By the way-everything I ever sent you is off record. You're not a journalist so it's weird saying that but just letting you know."
I responded: "I'm sorry, but that's not how this works. You don't get to say that in retrospect."
Halligan was unpersuaded: "Yes I do. Off record."
"I am really sorry. I would have been happy to speak with you on an off the record basis had you asked," I said. "But you didn't ask, and I still haven't agreed to speak on that basis. Do you have any further comment for the story?
To my surprise, she kept going: "It's obvious the whole convo is off record. There's disappearing messages and it's on signal. What is your story? You never told me about a story."
I didn't respond. It was time to publish my story. I'll text it to her.
Postscript: Read the full exchange between Lindsey Halligan and Lawfare's Anna Bower here.

Highlighted text: “Hours after Lawfare published this article, Justice Department spokeswoman Natalie Baldassarre provided the following additional comment:

“Thank you for including my statement in your story. I just realized I spelled Lindsey's name wrong in the initial response, would you mind correcting?
