If you're poor, your time horizon is *short* You don't have the luxury of waiting 4 weeks for someone to pay you money they owe you, you need that money *now* for bills right now. The richer people get, the longer their time horizons become until they are alien to normal humans.

Sometimes you pour pancake batter onto the skillet and realize immediately “wellp, that’s gonna be an ugly one.” I think art and writing goes the same way. you can try to fix it while it fries, learn and pour a better one next time, or find the person who wants to eat it in all its ugliness

I like to lose control of language, including consistency, sometimes, as a byproduct of trying to get somewhere different and, also, better characterization. You can also edit back the chaos of that, but still gain something. Language is fluid, people are inconsistent, the world is chaotic.
