While immigrants without legal authorization make up about 5% of the U.S. workforce, these workers are concentrated in particular industries, including agriculture.

Did a Private Equity Fire Truck Roll-Up Worsen the L.A. Fires?
During the LA fires, dozens of fire trucks sat in the boneyard, waiting for repairs the city couldn't afford. Why? A private equity roll-up made replacing and repairing those trucks much pricier.

My original point: The only way for the president to enforce impoundment against a determined Congress that fights back is by going further and spending unappropriated funds. And at that point he would be full Roman emperor "the Senate is just ceremonial."

No, they're not caught between anything. Stop it. The fact that AI may be used or useful in future jobs does not create a single dilemma at all for college students in how to actually complete their coursework. This is all nonsense & excuses for not doing the reading & learning how to think & write.

It's weird how I haven't seen any AI products that do the work of upper corporate management or college administrators....you'd think that the most expensive links in the chain would be where AI would be most cost effective...hm, this must just be an oversight that will be remedied soon.

Guardians at the Gates: Poll Worker Retention in a Challenging Election Environment | Election Law Journal: Rules, Politics, and Policy
Contrary to previous research and press accounts, we find limited evidence that persons who worked the polls in the past, including the 2020 election, are reticent to work in future elections. Our explanation focuses on the motivation and affect persons need to have to work the polls. Persons who believe their work at the polls is consequential for their community and who feel their work is valued, respected, and well-supported are highly motivated to work the polls in future elections. Conflict at the polls with voters and poll watchers, aspects of poll worker training, and collaborations with other poll workers have no appreciable impact on the willingness to work the polls. Only the magnitude and diversity of problems poll workers observed voters had casting their ballots are significant deterrents to working the polls. Our findings identify efficacious steps that local election officials can take to recruit and retain persons to work the polls in future elections.
