Today is International Lesbian Day! My OC is butch, and one of them is non-binary. Both butch and non-binary people are part of the lesbian community. I hope that what is taken for granted around the world will also become the norm in Japan.

If you're going to Frosty Faustings this year and want to play something that is/has -funny -between 3D (VF/Tekken) and Arena fighters (Power Stone, Dragon Ball Sparking) -surprisingly deep -final fantasy 7 characters -incredible music Ehrgeiz has it for you. bsky.app/profile/956....

I'd love this to be a nice, modest sized bracket (16ish) with decent char representation — not all Tifa, Cloud, Yoko, Masuda, Django, which all seem like strong/popular picks. But really I just want to show people that this is a good *fighting game* and not just some funny dungeon crawler.

For those who aren't up to date on the 360 modding scene, this is a Big Deal. Believe it or not, until now, the 360 still never had a softmod and while some exploits in recent years had gotten most of the way, this is the real deal. You probably no longer need to solder your 360 to do Fun Stuff.

The DC is a hard one to talk about for me, because most of what people remember it for and put it on a pedastal is "had very accurate arcade ports," which isn't that important when emulation is a factor.

Oh I'd also nominate UMK3, and I wonder if revisions of Primal Rage and Killer Instinct which change the combo structure to kill infinites would be up there.

030

PolarBair, Ehrgeiz Understander @polarbair.neocities.org · 07/10/2026

yeah I think it's fair to call it a new game, but if you tried to quantify it, I also think the release window is a lot like WW to CE or CE to HF

140

PolarBair, Ehrgeiz Understander @polarbair.neocities.org · 07/10/2026

meanwhile FH to FHD changed the button layout and ADDED COMBOS (beyond basic mash LP/LK) on top of making fireballs substantially better, turning it into a totally different game.

PolarBair, Ehrgeiz Understander @polarbair.neocities.org · 07/10/2026

I'm not sure if we count Fighter's History -> Fighter's History Dynamite but if not then maybe Samsho V to V Special. They added fatalities, changed time slow so you start with some but it doesn't scale as high, and made tons of other character changes. Kusaregedo roll did NOT go that far in SSV.

If you all want to imagine a scaled back Smash that focuses on mechanics design instead of the number of characters, Brawl modding is pretty expansive, people are even modding Ultimate, and Rivals of Aether 2 workshop just came out of beta.

0110

PolarBair, Ehrgeiz Understander @polarbair.neocities.org · 07/10/2026

it's impossible to know the direction Smash will take next - they WILL have one made - but I'd like the option to *not* put him in the hospital again.
