Arkansas’ political leaders have always sold their state as the low wage state, so why shouldn’t the Razorbacks have the lowest player payroll in the SEC?

a very effective presentation of androgen insensitivity (& indirectly, non-cell-autonomy, a core principle in development & evolution of multicellularity) in many situations, the cells in your body get external signals that tell them who they are & what they do, rather than knowing it internally

Every job lost is a taxpayer removed from paying to support our military and providing benefits to our veterans. Fewer taxpayers means more borrowed money, more inflation and higher interest rates. Fewer jobs is bad.

So, in the heat wave we are now experiencing, the spouse walked in and wanted to know the name of the novel Philip K Dick in which the Earth is burning up and people are moving to Mars. The Three Stigmata Of Palmer Eldritch. I feel this book has so much more to say about today…
Book cover of The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch. There is a picture of a solid white hand on a solid black background. In the palm of the hand is a blue eye, surrounded by a circle of small wristwatches, laid side by side.

#arbluedots #voteblue The national debt is approaching $40Trillion. Republicans are going to blame SSI, Medicare and Medicaid. Those programs have been around for more than 50 years. They did not cause this debt. ¹/³ of this debt was added by 1 president, Donald Trump.

@merriam-webster.com, since "shenanigans" is a noun, would it be logical to have "shenan" as the verb tense? As in "were going out shenaning tonight" or if past tense, "I have shenaned before and will shenan again"? Just a thought.

The overwhelming right wing sentiment is that COVID was an engineered bioweapon that was also harmless. Trump overreacted to it by shutting down the country, then engineered a drive to create a vaccine that was the real bioweapon that killed millions, and it's Joe Biden's fault.

If these kids have grown up in the US, they are as American as apple pie (I’ve taught enough to know). As a nation declining in population, we need them to enter the labor force and pay taxes if we want our system to function. Immigrant workers pay taxes. Billionaires don’t.

Today is the 250th anniversary of Boston’s mass inoculation against smallpox on July 3, 1776. The city was effectively closed to commerce from July through September 1776. The mass immunization effort was cheered as evidence of true independence. Here's how I described it in my book:
While John Adams and fifty-five men in Philadelphia debated a resolution on independence and the final wording of the Declaration of Independence, the people of Boston declared their own independence from smallpox. The measures taken in both cities provided hope that America would not only be a republic free of a king but also a country free from disease. On July 3, 1776, a day after independence was declared in Philadelphia, the Massachusetts General Court voted to allow inoculation. Despite the dangers of infection, the people of Boston and the surrounding areas cheered the news. Ezekiel Price, a court official and insurance broker, declared “Liberty is given for to inoculate for the small-pox; many begin upon it this afternoon.” Hannah Winthrop described the scene: “Boston has given up its Fears of an invasion & is busily employd in Communicating the Infection. Straw Beds & Cribs are daily Carted into the Town.” She wrote that “Men Women & children eagerly crowding to inoculate is I think as modish as running away from the Troops of a barbarous George was the last year.” Dr. James Warren wrote to John Adams that the “rage for inoculation” had “whirled me into its vortex.…” Warren and his wife Mercy Otis joined Abigail Adams and her four children who had been invited to be inoculated at Abigail’s uncle’s house in Boston along with Abigail’s sisters Elizabeth Cranch and Mary Shaw and their families. Even though Boston was teeming with the sick, the prospect that the city could conquer smallpox made it "a scene delightful indeed." Cotton Tufts was satisfied that he could now "take my leave of Earth, satisfied that the Day of American Redemption was at Hand."

GOOD NEWS! A personalized mRNA vaccine, known as mRNA-4157, has shown promise in keeping melanoma, a deadly skin cancer, from returning. FIVE years later, NEARLY 70% of people in the vaccine group are CANCER-FREE. The vaccine also cut a person’s risk of the cancer metastasizing by NEARLY 60%.
