Mijn afkeer van coronawappies komt niet voort uit een theoretische discussie over een maatregel
of vaccin. Zij komt voort uit wat ik met eigen ogen heb gezien: een ontstellend gebrek aan
solidariteit, zelfbeheersing en mededogen op het moment dat andere mensen werkelijk leden en
stierven.
Ik zag tijdens corona veel moed, menselijkheid en professionaliteit. Maar ik zag ook hoe dun bij
sommigen het laagje beschaving is zodra hun eigen comfort wordt geraakt.
Dat egoisme ben ik niet vergeten. En eerlijk gezegd ben ik ook niet van plan het alsnog goed te
praten. Ik vind het gerechtvaardigd om mensen die zo in elkaar zitten buiten te sluiten. Wanneer
empathie ontbreekt, moet je het ook niet verwachten. Je bent geen slachtoffer, maar een dader.
