Sounds like ‘Genesta’ is strongly indeterminant. I have others that will budbuild as long as conditions are favorable (usually water). Like this one (‘Lightning Force’). In one bed that’s fairly wet, it’s still developing more buds. I have it in a drier bed and it’s done.

I’ll add, breeding with a plant like Plum Tardy is difficult. Frost usually arrives before seeds are mature. You can either trick them into blooming early, grow the plants indoors, or cut the scapes and let the capsules mature in water indoors (they should be ~3-4 weeks into development to do this)

Cameron Stern @plantpolyploidy.bsky.social · 13/09/2026
Plum Tardy is a dip. The name of one that blooms until frost is ‘Autumn Prince’. Two other very lates here (still blooming and with the cold temps will bloom for a bit longer) are ‘Thank You Dad’ and ‘Late Summer Fling’. Rebloom is uncommon in the north, but some do, especially with enough water…

I’ll get you others too. I was chatting with someone the other day about one, but I forget the name. Any other traits, or just bloom until frost? Does it have to be round form, a certain height, etc?

What immediately comes to mind is ‘Plum Tardy’. Looks like it had its first flower open (FFO) here yesterday. Don’t know if it quite makes it to frost (never paid attention), but it gets close and still opens well in cold Do you care if it reblooms until frost, or do you want original scapes?

If you’re ever looking for more very late daylilies (particularly dips), I suggest plants from Bob Sobek, or Olallie’s Daylilies. Both tend to breed season extending plants. Plus, a fun aside, Olallie’s is run by Chris Darrow, grandson of Dr. George Darrow, well-know breeder of several crops.

Based on locality and leaf shape possibly Synaphea flabelliformis. These small shrubs are a diverse group, tho some cryptically so, with many looking at first glance very similar to each other! They also have the wonderful feature of Ballistic pollination and that’s just very cool in my opinion!

My first harvest of dried lima beans for 2026. I've been growing the yellow and magenta varieties together for several years, hoping the local pollinators would make a hybrid for me. The dark population of seeds all seem to have come from one very productive F1 plant.
About three handfuls of dried lima beans. Those at left are yellow, with a few immature white seeds. Those in the middle are magenta, with a few immature pink seeds. Those at right are dark maroon with various amounts of yellow markings. At the top-middle is a small pile of five blue dry beans.

This is one of my early versions of a figure depicting the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway in plants. Newer versions don't have the thick arrows and have removed the uncertain brown pigments from the yellow branch of the pathway.
Schematic diagram of the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway in plants. Early uncolored metabolites are at the top, and then the pathway progresses downwards and eventually splits into three branches that produce red, blue, and yellow pigments. Brown pigments are produced by further steps, starting with the red and blue pigments.
