Second day with progressive lenses and I am still amazed at what I can see (being rather short-sighted) without changing glasses. There's some adaption, although not as bad as one often hears. Warping is irritating - no, it's not an earthquake, the table does not wobble, it's the new lenses! 😂

Auf einer Geburtstagsfeier gewesen. Nett, Spaß, alles fein. Die Hauptperson: 95, geistig fit, körperlich doch angeschlagen, aber noch (in Grenzen) mobil. Aber: Ist das erstrebenswert? Denn ein alleinbestimmtes Leben ist es nicht mehr, egal wie gut es aussieht. Schwierige Gedanken für einen selbst.

Yesterday I saw my first Waymo in the wild in Los Angeles. But... there was someone in the driver seat! As I found out later Waymo sometimes puts "autonomous specialists" on board their cars for monitoring the technology and providing feedback. Well, so much for "total autonomy". 🤣

We have Monarch caterpillars! The first time again after two years of not a single one, although we do live along the "Monarch Route" and the garden is chock full with milkweed and butterfly mist as an invitation. 😍🌱

Monarch caterpillar (black/yellow/white striped, probably fourth-instar) munching its way along a milkweed bush. It is the biggest one of all the caterpillars we can see.

How long will it take for a new Monarch to dance in the garden? Maybe two weeks, maybe a little less.
