Thrilled to say that the first single from the new album (out in early November) has been snapped up by three Apple Music Playlists - Sacred Sounds, Early Music, and Choral Chill. Getting the word out! To have a quick listen (and maybe put in a pre-order!) just click on the link: orcd.co/dpmoralesiv

Apart from once again proving himself a dead eyed socipath, Jenrick is forcing Reform down a cul-de-sac. "How about war crimes" is not winning 35% of the vote.

I've got something unpleasant to sort out, but the longer I put it off the worse it will eventually be TO sort out, so - I've had a think and weighed it up, and delighted to announce I'm going to put it off just that little bit more.

THAT'S the value in Burnham publicly talking about Russian intervention. It's not aimed at YOU or ME. We knew that shit already. it's so Bobby Mail-On-Sunday can say: "of course, now i know about the Russians, i wouldn't do it again." next time his son or daughter brings the grandkids over.

That DOESN'T mean rejecting any notion of culpability. The people who led the charge on this shit - the Farages of this world - need to face consequences. You just have to work out at what point down the pyramid you draw the line, and let people build a new mental framework for reversing their view

So yes. If a whole bunch of people with Bregrets now latch onto "The Russians told me to do it" as their climbdown, then whatever. i'm not gonna "well actually" that Politics has to be about change, not catharsis. You can't go through life expecting to always get the latter, if you want the former

The first couple of episodes of ‘Allo ‘Allo are a big eye opener there as well. In that case there’s perhaps more that hasn’t dated, but a substantial proportion of the punchlines actually boil down to ”this character is gay”.

And yes, it was funny when I was 12. I think that’s much more about me changing than society changing though.

Well quite, but there’s also a huge helping of schoolboy glee at being “allowed” to say horrendous things because it’s all satire isn’t it. Quite a bit of Python didn’t ever mature beyond that. All a bit Pee Po Belly Bum Drawers.

People ask me this all the time, so I’ll just say: look at the transgender hate panic, a thing that had no organic element and did not arise from the public, and was instead imposed upon everyone by the world’s most hateful, poisonous and malignant media class.

My latest @newscientist.com cartoon
Panel 1: a large robot (composed of AI servers, network switches, storage arrays, and power distribution units) and a human are talking.

Professor "You don't want to destroy humanity do you, lLLM-A-9300x?"

Robot "Haha. What a silly question, Professor. I have no desires or feelings of my own whatsoever."

Professor (relieved)"Oh good."

Panel 2: they walk on. The robot continues "I am merely a tool of the company that created me. And that company, being composed of humans, will naturally have humanity's best interests at heart."

Panel 3: The professor is conspicuously quiet.
"Right?" says the Robot.
…
More silence

"Professor?"

You’d be surprised. “Epigenetics is Lamarck’s revenge” is far too prevalent an attitude among people who work mechanistically without an evolutionary background.

Folks, if you’re doing interesting epigenetic work, stop reaching for Lamarck as clickbait. It just doesn’t fit what you’re doing - never has, never will.

Lamarckism is not just ‘inheritance of acquired change’, in which case any germline mutation would count. Lamarckism posits intentional directed change in response to the environment, which is then inherited. It doesn’t happen, but this study didn’t even test it.

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.
ADHD and autism at risk of over-diagnosis, says report, as author warns of rise in mental ill health
Summary
• An official review in England finds there is a risk of people being over-diagnosed with
ADHD and autism - three key findings from the report
• As well as neurodevelopmental conditions, the review looks at mental ill health, particularly in younger people. Our health correspondent explains the difference
• It was commissioned earlier this year after Wes Streeting, then the health secretary, said there was an "over-diagnosis" of mental health conditions
• Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme earlier, review chair Prof Peter Fonagy said Streeting was "with respect, completely wrong"
