I always imagined Sisyphus as being under an inner compulsion (that they had "given" to him by Hades) to get the stone up that hill. It wasn't just because he was tasked to get it up there but he couldn't bear the stone to be anywhere else.

I played on a C64 before I got to playing on a PC. And I played quite some PC games before I started with Ultima Underworld. But UU1 was the game that clicked for me. The game that I couldn't stop thinking about. And so dungeon crawler is one of my favourite genres today still. 💘

Happy 41st Anniversary to the release of Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, one of the most groundbreaking games in RPG and PC history. It cannot be over-stated how foundational it was to the modern day open-world RPG, nor the influence it had on complex story-telling and morality sytems in gaming.
