The people who perform best on social media tend to be the most antisocial in the psychopathic sense.

The Sixth Nik is going to make one helluva movie assuming it's already been optioned. That set will make the Alien franchise seem dry as a bone.

I think this is a good thing, and gives me hope for the future. This isn't capitulating to the algorithm, or fawning over influencer status, it's like being 11 in 2000 and finding your dad's AOL password on a post-it note.

I don't know if there's ever been a culture more in love with charlatans than ours. "Success" defined entirely by how good you are at tricking people into giving you money. An entire country of aspiring slop merchants

The ROI conversation is lethal to the AI bubble, because it gives everybody a tangible way to call bullshit on the hype. If you can't measure ROI, you can't say that AI is valuable, which makes it hard to justify your massive spend. www.wheresyoured.at/premium-the-haters-guide-to-the-ai-bubble-3-0/
I get asked about twenty times a week when exactly the AI bubble will burst, and it’s hard to give anyone an answer other than “when the vibe fully shifts.”

AI isn’t substantiated by actual ROI, revenue growth, or actual innovation. Every AI startup is unprofitable, the vast majority of them have pathetic revenues, the two leading startups burn billions (or tens of billions) a year and have no path to profitability, AI data centers aren’t profitable, and the only reason Anthropic and OpenAI have seen so much growth is that we live in an economy dominated by do-nothing fad-following fuckwits.

The current shift around the AI ROI conversation is profound enough that it could finally burst the bubble.
To be clear, everybody — including AI boosters — has been saying “bubble” for the best part of the year, but never really defining what it meant other than that there was some vague form of over-investment with “some winners and some losers” that will end up being either too big to fail (it won’t) or just like the Dot Com Bubble (it’ll be worse). These conversations have remained vague because there hasn’t really been an inciting event to steer them into the maw of Hell.

More importantly, these conversations haven’t really been ones that would change how much any Business Idiot was spending, right up until Laura Bratton of The Information reported that Uber had blown through its entire annual token budget in a single quarter, which led to Uber’s COO saying it was harder to justify its token spend as it couldn’t track ROI, which in turn gave everybody permission to say the quiet part out loud: that you can’t measure the ROI of AI, and that whatever it cost today was way, way too much.

To be clear, this is organizations bluntly stating that they are spending too much on AI and intend to spend less.

This is a huge issue, because both Anthropic and OpenAI have sold their products almost entirely divorced from any specific outcomes, choosing instead to use a climate of excitement and fear to drive enterprise purchasing decisions, believing that their customers were imbeciles, mostly because they were.
Anthropic’s obvious next move is to try and use its ultra-expensive mystical “Mythos” model to con executives into doing massive, multi-million dollar “cybersecurity evaluations” that will provide a brief revenue burst, and then eventually release the whole model and claim that it “built industry-leading security protocols” to stop it from “escaping its sandbox” or some bullshit.

I think OpenAI is the most-likely candidate to burst the bubble. I expect that the reveal of its actual economics could thoroughly shake the market, because I’ve a gut feeling their losses are far more revolting than we’ve been led to believe.

I also believe that if there’s a poor showing for SpaceX at IPO, the markets will become increasingly anxious over the AI trade.

In any case, I believe that we’re going to see a hysterical race between OpenAI and Anthropic to go public, with the winner being the only one that will actually be able to dump its wretched company onto easily-duped retail.

I look forward to explaining what happens next as I get more information, and deeply appreciate you subscribing to Where’s Your Ed At Premium.

Wait so when you say "poverty went up" your complaint is that the red dot is higher than the green dot, only managing to be the second-best number in history? You can see why that's a really fucking misleading way of presenting it, right.
